Maybe he even gets traded for a 2nd + prospect that was just a healthy scratch in the playoffs.

What a team that could have been.
This team could have competed for 9th.

At some point you gotta cheese the system like every other team with a terrible contract. Can you LTIR someone for mental health issues, god I hope so.
100%. This has gone on long enough. Flames need to get creative and ditch this loser. What a joke of a player, even bigger joke of a contract.

I’m anti-tank so it’s good from my perspective to see the team competing. Shootout losses are ideal for our situation.

I’ll take it.

Not a liability by any means.
The other guys get tired, carrying the extra workload - it affects everyone

Also, you can make bad plays while short-handed too (no minus)

Came in to read the Huberdeau hate, not disappointed.

It's a strange take for this game. He had a bad giveaway sure, then set up Backlund in the slot, miss. Set up Coleman/Backlund in the crease, miss/disallowed, set up Kadri right in front, miss. I'm not really sure what else he's supposed to do.

It’s over the top for sure. It doesn’t matter what’s going on in the actual game, the GT just gets swamped by a handful of guys with smart ass comments.

Even if you’re anti-tank, how is a shootout loss ideal?

Sometimes I’m stunned by how remarkably average this franchise continues to be. We are destined to finish 17-20 overall, it seems.

Sure but I don't think they are liabilities on the ice stats wise or eye test wise this trip...and are playing decent minutes, certianly Osterle.

Sharangovich pots a couple of sitters he had, get a bounce or two in the 3rd vs Vegas and Colorado to kit give up the lead and Flames get 6 points with the overall effort of these three guys, the defense in general, and team overall, no different than the effort they did put in. And of course for 55 minutes vs Colorado Flames had 5 defenseman.

Official Shootout Report: https://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlrepor...4/SO020450.HTM

Shot #1: Result: Goal; Shot Type: Wrist

They're calling it a wrist shot goal... meaning the deke attempt, which Vladaar got a piece of, wasn't considered an attempt at all. It was just something that happened on the way to him ultimately shooting it in the net.

You'd think that would open up a whole can of worms on players now being allowed to tap in failed deke attempts, but I imagine the next time this happens it will be ruled no goal as if tonight had never happened.

Looking forward to seeing the ruling next time a player puts a puck off a goalies pad on a deke.

That makes no sense. Vladar touched it.

Pointing out that we're playing with three NHL D isn't a light against the other three. It's just pointing out that the three guys most capable of impacting the game are tired AF out there, and that as the game goes on, the forwards have to pick up some of the slack, which also has a cost.

When three of your six D are just trying not to make any mistakes while the other three rest, that takes a large chunk out of a team's effectiveness.

Another hard fought effort by the Flames. Fun to watch and great to see Sharangovich, Zary, Coleman and Kadri continue to contribute.

I remain a Gilbert fan and think he is an NHL caliber defenseman.

Sharangovich is really playing well right now. That line was buzzing too.

The young guys are contributing and learning the league, can't ask for much more in a development year like this (other than big returns on veterans that get moved out).

I may be wrong but I thought Vladar only got his stick on it. I haven't seen the replay, though.

Since he had zero point in the last 7 games, I am pretty sure there are a lot of things he is supposed to do better…. Especially for what they are paying him.
