Hopefully Flames come out better than the last time they met and smoke these guys cleanly.

This has got to be a winnable game, right? I hope the Flames are rewarded after 2 losses on good efforts against the Avs and LV. More scoring from the rookies and a stingy game from Wolf will have me entertained. Go Flames!

I hope we are not as flat as last game against these guys.
But like you say, there is a bright side to a loss this year.

I'm weirdly confident in this game. Flames are playing well, albeit with (somewhat understandable) defensive lapses. I expect Wolf again tonight but what do I know.
Anyway, Flames win.

They appear to be rotating the starters, so I would imagine Vladar gets this game, no?

Francis reporting Tanev has flown back to Calgary, not in the lineup tonight.
In regards to the above, it does appear they are rotating but IMO Wolf had the better outing and earned this start. This may also be one of his last for a bit as I expect Markstrom to be back and start on Saturday night.

Screw all this 'asset' talk, I just hope Tanev is OK. I've never seen a player so willing to sacrifice his body - when you think about how limp the Flames challenge is this year, it really seems not worth it.
If he gets traded I'll cheer for him anywhere he goes. I'd like to see his hockey insanity rewarded with a Cup.

If Tanev is out, anyone know if we have a future Tanev in our system? Solovyov perhaps?

No Jared Spurgeon tonight for the Wild, he's day-to-day.

Kuznetsov would probably be my closest comparable, but he's still a couple of years away from the NHL. Solovyov is another player I guess, but I think he's more similar to Z than to Tanev.
That said, I don't know if you can find Tanev's combination of heart, hockey IQ, and compete on many players. I would be happy if one of Kuznetsov/Solovyov evolves into a top 4 player, or even a solid #5.

Tanev is a rare breed. A true throwback, purely D, tough and gritty SOB. You don't have many of him left these days.

The problem with being on team youth and tank is when Wolf is playing I want to see less goals against. Usually less than would imply a loss.

If the Flames can replicate the effort of the last two games they probably win...to the chagrin of many on here lol

But we are talking about the Flames. "If they can just ......." should be painted on the walls, ice and on flags out-front of the building.

Not only that, I hope wherever he ends up signs him to a large multi year contract extension immediately.
That guy deserves financial security, for the amount he’s willing to sacrifice his body for the benefit of his team.
