The actual list of competitions looked fine and took out the gimmicky judged stuff of the past. But that last sentence depressed me. The dunk tanks are stupid.
I don't know if I'm in the minority on this or not, but what I'd rather see is players competing for a split prize - 1/2 player 1/2 charity. Prizes of say $100,000.
For the competition itself I'd rather see a standard set of competitions that each team does on it's own "skills" night and then sends the best (teams could add whatever they want for their own night/fans above that). I want to see the hardest shot in the league, not the hardest shot from an all-star (yes, sometimes they'll be the same thing). If some 4th line plug or 3rd pairing defenseman can rip a 106mph slap shot, get him in the competition and crown the league's actual hardest shot. They don't need to play in the game or be on the All-Star team. Ditto for other events like fastest skater, accuracy, passing, etc.

1. Fastest Skater (to the bench)
This competition will feature 12 skaters. Each player will start at the opposition's goal crease where the puck will be turned over. Players must race to their bench before a player from the other team gets a shot on net at the other end in order to avoid a minus.
2. Hardest Shot (to the groin)
This competition will showcase the game's dirtiest players. Each player will be given three hits to the groin area of a dummy donning a Calgary Flame uniform with their stick. The NHL's new high tech tracking technology will determine which player imposes the greatest force. Leon Draisaitl is already deemed the favourite in this event.
3. Stick Handling
New for 2024, the players will attempt to draw calls from a virtual referee. In this timed event, skaters will have 30 seconds to see how many times they can fool a referee into thinking their stick was being held by another player.
4. One Timers
Featuring Leon Draisaitl, players will feed Leon passes and receive a point for every one timer Leon puts into an empty net. This simulation represents the NHL's desire to present the 5-3 Powerplay in the final two minutes of a game.
5. Passing Challenge
Players will stand at the opposition blueline where they will attempt to pass cross ice to each other. The first player to have their pass taken away by an opposing player for a breakaway against will receive a point. Expect Darnell Nurse and Evan Bouchard to be participants and early favourites.
6. Accuracy Challenge
This event has been revamped for 2024. Players will no longer shoot pucks at four targets in the net, but now will charge up the ice and cross check a player in the numbers forcing their face into the dasher. Tracking technology will calculate a total score with points for speed, accuracy of stick position, force of the player into the boards, and accuracy of player's face on the dasher. Not yet publicly released but it's expected this event will be named after Evander Kane.

So, basically he designed the skill competition so it's rigged for him to win pretty much all the events. LOL Might as well name an NHL award after him as well for being the coach, GM, and player of all time FFS!
