Yes, he missed an open net in a game where the whole team was snakebit. It sucks, but it happens. I've seen all kinds of players make all kinds of mistakes.
He's been playing a lot better than last year to my eye, and I suspect the advanced stats say so. What do you do to get him going better? You stick with what seems to be working.
|
i dont see it working myself, for every game he looks decent, he then goes invisible. at the end of the day, we all want the same thing, he is never going to live up to the contract that he has but 46-50 points isnt acceptable either. 75 point player at this point, you could live with. still overpaid but making a difference.

It's why I love hockey. There's alchemy involved in building teams and lines. One guy can be a literal superstar with specific players and then the next year is a dud with other players and or coaches.
It's also why I don't buy analytics in hockey. There is no linear transition of individual stats and team performance. Only shows that players played well with players A and B but pooped the bed while playing with players Y and Z

I know separate thread for varna, but better than trashing huberdeau. And maybe skill player like varna can unlock huby.

The blues definitely have a template of one top offensive line and then overloading the blueline. The question is whether hanafin would be willing to re-sign in st. Louis.

Who is Andy and Rono? They have the worst player cards.

He gets more ice time than any other winger on the team.
I consider that premium. He also plays the PP and is on pace for 46 points.
You can try and colour that any way you want, but it still comes out as black as death.

I. First thought for a while it was Andi Petrillo and a cohort. I'm wrong, it's a couple Czech fans from czechia.

Haha the defending of Huberdeau is like Oiler fans defending Nurse. Both players are trash.

Considering that Hanifin was willing to extend at 7.5m, teams have an idea of what it would take.
Of course he needs to put pen to paper. But if he was willing to sign here, imagine he wouldn’t be opposed to signing in a us city (not like it’s Winnipeg or Edmonton).

I’m definitely not defending him.
More just trying to point out that he’s not some turd sitting in a field of beautiful flowers.
It’s one giant crapfest here, and it’s hard to know where one turd ends and the next begins.

True.
You can't get assists unless someone else is scoring goals. Huberdeau would stink less if he had at least one linemate with some finish.

It also wouldn’t hurt if the dude could actually carry the puck with any speed/ability to hold onto the puck

Yeah, when the team lead is 17 or so after 26 games and there are 5 guys at that level, or within a couple points, something is off with the whole team offensively.

A big reason is the teams best offensive player has been awful for well over 100 games now. Thankfully Zary putting up points and proving that maybe players have some control over their own play.
Honestly the argument that Huberdeau not getting enough ice time makes me kind of ill.

Thats quite literally what those graphics are. its a comprehensive view of a bunch of tracked micro-stats. Huberdeau has bad analytics dude sorry no one is happy about it.

It’s a hard way to build a team (score by committee etc). You’re effectively banking on a lot of inconsistent players to balance each other out over 82 games.
I don’t think it’s a recipe for success (hence the desire for a lots of picks, and some high picks). The top-end of the roster needs a massive infusion of skill.

Didn't they just pay $10.5M for that?

Time to just accept that Huberdeau isn't that. They can't count on him for that in this system, perhaps in this city.
