For that price wouldn't be surprised to see a team take a flyer (like SJ), but he's rapidly running out of chances.

Shooting 4.9% this year after being a 14.1% shooter for his career.
Honestly if Lindholm/Hanifin were already gone and we had some cap space I'd take a flyer.

What a bizarre player. Had promise but can’t seem to stay in the lineup.

Yeah, not sure why he can’t seem to stick in a lineup the last few years. When he’s in, he’s scoring (outside of this year).
Roughly on the same level as Dube with a better scoring touch. Definitely a player worth taking a chance on.

I think he could be an interesting pickup. The guy has a ton of skill.

Wonder if there are issues in the room or if it's just down to injuries, he looked really good last year. Would be a great pickup if he can play some games, and the timing is right with a futures based Lindholm trade where we just need a forward body to play out the season.

He was definitely getting on the scoresheet last year, but his analytics have been low for a while. I believe his xG% remained around 40%, while usually having negative relative Corsi.
I still like this guy's skillset, I think he's similar to Sharangovich that's less responsible defensively. I think he might give the Flames another option in the shootout, and maybe the PP(though he has been struggling the PP this year).
He was in the player assistance program for substance abuse while with DET, so those issues might have resurfaced.

Whomp whomp.
Did the rumour spark a team to give the Blues a call and try to make a trade?

Thanks for this valuable information. It's good to know that Vrana isn't on waivers.

not that I think it'll happen and I'm not necessarily for it, but given that Dube could maybe do with a change of scenery ... the maths would check out too. Who knows.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Not sure I see this as a fair swap. Dube plays LW/C, Vrana just LW.
Vrana makes more and I don't know if the Blues ship him off with a pick either as he's a UFA. Dube is RFA, with arb rights.
Flames have plenty of LW including Pelletier who will be back in a month
I don't see the fit.

Vrana has a history of off-ice issues. Nothing personal against him, but it's possible that his decline on the ice is related to that. I'd be really cautious about bringing a player with that history onto a team going with a youth movement.
