Almost every company has a simple white version of their logo, so it should always look good on a dark helmet.

In the OP's Carolina, San Jose, and Toronto examples, all of those jerseys have no colour on the shoulders. A coloured helmet helps make up for the lack of colour on the jerseys.
The Flames road jerseys have nice, red shoulders already to provide contrast. A red helmet would spoil the balance and would be too much red up top.

I was at the game last night, flames wore their Blastys, Carolina wore white helmets...maybe they didn't get the memo that the flames were wearing black?

It looks like they're wearing the white helmets on this entire road trip after wearing red for the rest of their previous road games this season.
It's possible they didn't know if they Flames were going to be wearing their black uniforms last night when they packed for the trip. They also play in Detroit next Thursday at the end of this trip and Detroit doesn't have a non-red home helmet.
It is funny that the only two road games they play against teams who normally wear red helmets at home are on the same trip. Maybe they planned it this way.

White looks better on white. All the red looks good with the yellow. I wouldn't change a single thing with our away uniform. To me, its the best in the league by far. So clean and crisp and balanced.

Colorado also sometimes wears colored lids with white.
Really like SJ's uniform set, they went from a random busy scattershot of striping to something clean, similar to their Seals RR.
In general I like the look but for the Flames, what they have is fine. What about the RR with red helmets (I know the jerseys aren't to be used again, but...)?
