PGA almost certainly cannot win though, Saudis have billions more to spend if they need to. This is a hostile takeover, the Saudis are trying to control golf one way or another.

The sad part is it didn't have to be this way.
The two leagues could have coexisted, let LIV do their thing mostly in the fall with a couple weeks here and there during the "slow" weeks during the season and the problem is solved.
That wasn't good enough for the PGA Tour and here we are.
Rory looks like a dork for not taking the money.

You think the Saudis spent all this money to be the off week/season tour? Lol. Full credit to how they've played this, but the end game was always to control golf. I wouldn't say Rory is a dork, mostly he's naive for thinking tradition and legacy would ever trump obscene amounts of cash money. And Monahan is obviously a loser, if he had any integrity he'd resign.

Unless liv starts broadcasting on ESPN, TSN, NBC, CBS, I can't see me paying any attention to it. I'm not going to watch a garbage broadcast on YouTube to watch golf. And 3 day professional golf is just lame. I hope they continue making it difficult for liv players to qualify for majors.

Maybe you try to hang on long enough until they stop caring.

Men’s professional golf is in a sad place. The direction it's headed right now isn't healthy or good for the sport.
And I know many of you are upset with the recent developments - I would be too.
I had some thoughts I wanted to share
When I was younger, I dreamed of playing on the PGA Tour. I wanted to play against the best. When I got there, I couldn't believe how amazing it was.
We've had some issues in the past couple of years, but it's still an incredible place to 'work.'
Unfortunately, money has changed things. Charity used to be a huge priority on tour, but it's taken a backseat. LIV has overvalued the worth of golfers so much that it has ruined our perspective, and pushed purses to unsustainable levels. The marketplace seems broken.
Fans want to see the best compete against each other.
Instead, we are watching the top players split into separate camps. It is frustrating to watch.
I'm also a huge sports fan and would hate for my favorite players to get plucked away one by one.
We need to find a way to resonate with all of you and lead the PGA Tour back to higher ground.
Hopefully, our leadership can make that happen.
The uncertainty has been really difficult for us but I remain hopeful.

That's it though, they could lose another $20 billion on this and it's basically a rounding error for the PIF. So can the PGA hold out for 20, 30 more years? I don't see it. Best hope for the PGA to avoid the Saudis is they can convince the majors to ban LIV guys. But even then I could see guys just saying "#### the majors, majors don't get me my own island".

Well I guess they only lose money if they try to match dollars. Does LIV try to buy every player or do they stop with some big names? If it goes down to them adding a Jon Rahm every year maybe you've stopped the bleeding.
IMO the Tour can maybe still stay alive so long as people aren't watching LIV.

There is only one golfer in the world that could turn things upside down with a defection and get people to start watching LIV. And it seems a certainty it will never happen.
Hughes' point in LIV overvaluaing golfers is completely true. Rahm, a one time major winner, being dished out that kind of money is lunacy.

To be fair to Rahm he's a two time major winner. But they have to overpay, guys who go are basically viewed with complete contempt and as having sold their souls. I sure as #### wouldn't sell my soul for market value, pay a premium on it or no soul lol.

I don't think the Tour will ever die, but it'll be relegated to pretty much irrelevance outside the majors, the Ryder Cup, and maybe Phoenix and a couple of other events. It's impossible to evaluate what the Saudis truly want because I can't think of another single entity on earth that is cool losing billions of dollars with, at this point, no viable path to making even a fraction of it back.

PGA and LIV need to set up a Ryder Cup style tournament to figure out who has the best golfers.

Rahm's suspension puts Hughes at #50 in the OWGR. Get him into all Signature events for 2024.

I was wondering if it would. (Fedex not OWGR). Is that confirmed? Rahm won't be out of the PGA Tour until he tees off with liv next year.

It's on twitter with screen captures of a letter saying exactly this.
You are correct. It's FedEx not OWGR. My bad.
