Default what happens 100 years from now?

So today was a really long and boring day at work and a very interesting debate began, what will the world be like 100 years from now?

Take for example how the world is such a diffent place than it was in 1907-

will there be such a thing as a "pure race", if so will racism still exist?

how will the stance on homosexuality change ( if it does)?

will there be such a thing as marriage ?

what about religion, will people continue to believe as science progresses, will they be apathetic? will there be as much segregation ?(ex different types of muslims and christians, will it be as big of an issue as today?

what will Mankind look like will we have continued to grown fatter and taller?

What will our morals be, with todays society, hardly anything shocks us anymore- will it only grow worse?

thoughts?

I have the feeling humanity will still be a collection of shortsighted idiots. Sure technology will be better, but I'd bet that'll just make my great great great grandkids lazier.

Besides the fact that I'll be in the 80th year of being your benevolent ruler

Sure there'll be different races, but there will be a template of perfection for each race due to the continuing work in genetic engineering. Basically our decendants will look like gods compared to us. But due to continued battles for superiority, there will only be 6 people on the planet earth.

There will always be religion, there will always be a belief in god, its part of human nature. Of course most will chose to worship me. There will be more and different types of religion tho as Islam splinters even further as does christianity. There will be several religion based wars, but not between seperate religions but between different factions within the same religions.

With increased study of genetics, chances will be taken out of breeding, people as a whole are fairly intolerant so nobody will want a fat child or a ######ed child, or an unco-ordinated child. Nobody wants to die of disease but we still want to eat fatty foods. The kill me gene will be de-activated so our life spans will last hundreds of years. Everyone will look roughly the same in height, weight and characteristics.

Olympic events will always end in 5 way ties as steroid use and genetic manipulation is accepted in the sports world.

Barry Bonds the 4th will hit 432 home runs a season all going the same distance of 1002 feet over the right field wall. Meanwhile Hank Aaron the 7th will make a triumphant comback when he beats Barry's great great great grandson about the head with a bat made of genetically perfected lumber.

Morals will be passed down on my benevolant rulings, therefore while spitting on side walks will be punishable by drowning in spit. Cheating on your inflate a date with someone elses inflate a date will be ok.

Sorry all citizen's in that future society will be able to buy cars using the best in Fred Flintstones technology.

All flying cars are reserved for the use of your benevolent and kind leader and his closest friends and suckups.

It will probably be an environmental waste land, with the few remaining humans too busy trying to survive to worry about racism and sexual orientation. Religion will probably revert to regional forms of pagan fertility cults.

If we survive, I can't see 100 years making a significant difference compared to thousands of years in the areas of morality, religion, and that sort of thing.

However I think our mastry of genetics will get to the point where we can design biological stuff like we design computers and stuff today; so we can have the perfect body, extend lifepans enormously (THAT would have huge impacts on religion and morality), and do pretty much what we want on that end of things.

I think being genetically altered or having cybernetic changes will be one of those thing that our great grandkids will do that scare the crap out of us.

I think we'll be able to interface directly with the mind, so fully immersive and interactive simulations will be possible (and will be popular entertainment).

I also think the science of the mind (which today is at the leeches stage of physical medicine) will be to the point where they can cure problems, rather than just putting people in jail and hoping they somehow work it out.

Well I can tell you one thing... there certainly won't be a high speed train from Calgary to Edmonton. That would be just stupid!

Who are you kidding? It may be thousands of dollars/barrel, but Canada has the second largest oil reserve on Earth. At our present rate of consumption, if companies all stopped pumping oil tomorrow, there would be enough in our reserves that we know of to last for 400 years!

There is enough oil in Ft. McMurray to keep the opperation going for another 300 years. Rumours of the depletion of fossil fuels tend to be greatly exaggerated.
