But again for a guy whos blown the doors off every level hes looked pretty average in the NHL. .882 SV% and 6 GA in 1.5 games this season. For a guy alot of people have talked about like he could step up into a starters role he sure hasnt shown it yet. And again I realize its not alot but the sample shown so far sure isnt impressive so far.

How about he gets a game where the team in front of him actually plays hockey instead of, say...wanks?

Maybe then we'll actually be able to see. A team is more than a goalie, and a goalie ain't the whole team. There's twenty guys on the ice. Nice to see if more than three of them play decently at a time. For a million per game for the team.

Please add at least another 1st in this year's draft.

Maybe the Flames should have "the blaster" suit up behind the bench and give Savard a night up in the popcorn suite or 10. He at least could help.

This PP is atrocious night after night.

Huberdeau and Kadri take a fair share of blame, and deservedly so, but Mangiapane and Dube have been awful. They have zero emotion and will to their game and essentially just collecting a pay cheque. The young guys and to a certain extent the 4th line with Greer have provided a spark but can’t be expected to be the catalysts every night. You obviously need your top players to be that, but our second tier has been underwhelming to say the least.

My only excitement tonight was for Wolf and it’s hard to judge his performance given the circumstances and how the team played as a whole. I know patience is key but you hope Conroy can hit a few home runs with trades as this team needs a reset and the ability to acquire some skilled players.

Markstrom can get them there too. If they trade Tanev and Hanifin this team could play .250 hockey after those two are gone, regardless of who is in the net.

Perfectly mediocre. An absolute non-factor in the NHL.

Zadorov is gone. Now get Lindholm, Hanifin, and Tanev out of here.
I picked bottom 5 finish in the season performance poll...and I feel we're ahead of pace.

Let's get ahead of the game and move the big pieces and really put the foot on the tank's accelerator.

Vladar right now is classic fantasy manager move right now...holding on for "value" but reality is the roster spot is worth more. Put the guy on waivers and lets move on.

Wolf couldn't do anything on the first tip in. The 2nd one, Kadri knocked him into the net with a dive. I think the goaltending will be okay but not much confidence in Vladar.

The rest of the team are all boat anchors that Tre overpaid to sign here like Mange and Dube.

Does anyone believe that Conroy had nothing to do with creating this mess . He's been in the front office since 2014. Does anyone really thing he can build a team, this time around

Conroy probably does. Does that count?

Not great, but at least a few bright spots.

Duehr looked more like last year's Duehr than what we have seen so far this season. Solovyov had an atrocious start to the game, but he got stronger as the game continued. Zary looked fantastic, and he doesn't shy away from mixing it up. Greer did his part trying to give the Flames some energy, and played his usual strong game. The 4th line overall did really well.

No point in bringing up the bad. This team is going to rebuild, so it doesn't matter. It will be crazy how fast this team will drop once Tanev and Hanifin are traded. It feels like the Zadorov trade has already impacted this team - that third pairing, regardless of who is on it, seems constantly underwater now. Not taking anything away from Solovyov - like I said, he got better as the game wore on, and I think this kid is going to end up as a very good player one day. He is just really raw - a rookie with 3 NHL games' worth of experience and counting. Oesterle wasn't much better, and he has 356 games of experience. Desimone started off well in the first 2 games or so, then regressed, and in his last 2 games I thought he stood out for all the wrong reasons. I like Gilbert, and feel he is probably the best bet at anchoring that third pair, but he is really a 7th D. These guys having to move up and play bigger minutes against better opposition? If there is an offer for Markstrom or Vladar, better take it now, because the numbers are about to regress for them.

Oh well, let's see how they play next game. I hope they play Solovyov every game, and only sit him now and then to give him some perspective as needed. I disagreed with how the Flames handled Kylington, and how he didn't get enough reps. You have to be careful not to throw young defencemen to the wolves, but you also want to give them lots of reps and good opportunity to develop. Hope the Flames walk that line really well with him (and in the future as well with all their prospects).

Well since he has been GM they didn't blow money on old UFA's and they have more picks than when he started. That is at least a step in the right direction.

Meh, the Flames were pushing pretty hard until the Wild scored their 5th. I thought Wolf was good at controlling rebounds and staying positionally sound when things got scrambly.
If the vets can’t contribute any more offence we may still earn a top 10 draft pick.

I think John Bean made it abundantly clear that this mess is an organization built mess, and they aren’t objective enough to correctly assess it.

…the hope has to be that Conroy and Iginla have had larger conversations around what they need to do.

I am sure that Conroy had a part in it, but you can also be sure that he disagreed with Treliving as well. These little nuances might have completely changed the trajectory of this team a few seasons ago. Maybe Conroy's ideas might have resulted in a cup for all we know? Maybe it would have resulted into a complete mess? Just because he has been an AGM here for years doesn't mean that he agreed with all the moves, or even with the direction that this team was under.

Also, who steps into the top of their chosen career path, and is an immediate success, especially given that it is a competition between the person and 31 others with much more experience? Of course there are going to be learning curves. Look back at Darryl Sutter, for instance. He stepped-into the role completely new to it. Made some impact moves right away, and got the Flames to game 7 of the SCF. That was unbelievably amazing, and he deserves a tonne of respect for that. However, it didn't change the fact that he was a rookie GM, and made some mistakes along the way, and suddenly this team became awful. He had zero training.

Conroy has been groomed for over a decade, and has worked under Feaster, Burke and Treliving. He has seen the decision making, offered his own decisions up, and saw firsthand what the results were. He also knows and has worked very closely with the scouting staff, so he probably knows which of the scouts' opinions he should put more stock in. That's certainly a huge advantage as compared to someone from outside coming into the organization.

I am definitely not going to get my pitchfork out for at least three or four seasons minimum - unless of course he does something completely outlandishly stupid. Not every move is going to be a 'win', as even the GM of whatever team this year that wins the cup has many blemishes on his record, you can be sure. I was hoping for Conroy, and I disliked Treliving in the last couple of seasons he was here. Working under Treliving does not make Conroy guilty of being just like Treliving, or guilty of the mistakes he made. There were disagreements, and if you watched enough interviews with Conroy over the years, he sometimes let some ideas slip in which they thought differently.

Personally, there is a lot of fingers that can be pointed in a lot of different directions, but for now, why bother? A change has been made at various levels, and I bet this team is about to undergo a lot of roster moves between now and next season. Let's see what happens, and let's see how things unfold before we get all impatient.

I wouldn’t be the least bit upset to see John Bean move on. He has no PR skills at all. A twit really.

The Flames brass and ownership need to look long and hard at teams like LA and New Jersey who have entered periods of sustained competitiveness with their young talent, and come to terms with just how different their situations are from the Flames' situation right now.

The Flames can get to where those teams are with enough patience and the appropriate moves, but I think they first need to get brutally honest with themselves about the reality of the situation.

I still believe the Flames were going to be fine in the second. They've had bad periods before but looked the better team for the majority of games through most of November, When your goalie lets in one so so and one terrible goal before you've had total 3 shifts in a period, to go down by 3, you are sunk no matter who you are in the league, confidence wise and flow wise.

Vladar's best recent game was the one where he didn't know he was playing (and this had time to think)was the Ebug game. Going forward, team may have more confidence with Wolf then worrying about when Vladar's going to let in a bad one (ala Markstrom last year). This team needs to focus on scoring goals, not have distractions about whether the goalie is going to let in a softie.

Big two games coming up to see if today was a bad game (first bad game in close to a month IMO) or a trend now with their starting goalie gone for a few weeks.

Was at Canucks game tonight. Zad had several brutal turnovers that made me smile…plus the Canucks lost, which makes Flames losses easier to take. Pretty disappointing to read about how bad they played tonight though.
