Even when the game itself is great, it's still not fun
This!
Games used to be about the hockey, they played music and had fun but the hockey is why we went... now is just screaming, super loud music. The atmosphere is terrible, our family won't be returning, even if its free.

My ears hurt after the game on the weekend. Why is the bass cranked up to 1 million? Ended up hanging in the club level and just eating and watching the Flames lose on TV.

Yep. In most NHL cities attendance has stayed the same or increased. In Calgary and a handful of others, it has dropped.

I expect what we’re seeing is a consequence of the circus around Gaudreau, Tkachuk, and Sutter, the bad and boring team last season, leaving fans pessimistic about the future. So the same things this board complains about.

The question is how Edwards responds. Many of us hope it will force his hand to move assets, suck for a while, and stock the cupboards. But I’m not confident that’s the case. He could take the attendance decline as evidence that this city won’t support a non-playoff team.

The only barrier to me going more often is cost. Product on the ice is tied to that but even if we were cup contenders, the prices are out of whack.

Tickets are about double in price what they should be.

It isn't even about the cost for me. I could buy seasons tickets in any seat in that building, and I feel very fortunate life handed me the right set of cards that I can actually say that. I split seasons tickets for about a decade, and then for a few years went to 2 or 3 games a year, and the last game I went to was the Dallas elimination game.

In 15 years, nothing has changed. How many times can do I have to listen to Cotton Eyed Joe? Stompin Tom comes on at the exact same time. OH NEAT, Sweet Caroline for the BILLIONTH time at the exact same time. OMG, Big Chief... where do you find those wild and whacky Fail Army videos? Wow, another basic chick leaning over puddle of puke on the concourse. Oh, what's that? A Dodge Ram on blocking everyone's path and clogging everything up?

Meanwhile, I can sit in my walkout basement, watching the game in 1000 watts of 7 channel surround, on an 85" TV. I have my own popcorn machine, arcade games, bar (even though I don't drink) can watch the game in my hot tub through the window (yes I designed it that way), we can order in a Sushi feast for less than a couple beers and Nachos, can play with my dogs in the yard during intermissions, and I don't feel guilty for repurposing all that stuff and throwing on Rambo III if they are stinking the joint out.

The point isn't to humble brag... the point is, even when the financial burden of going isn't an obstacle, it got so stale. The game production is literally on rails now like a modern FPS game. I'd rather enjoy it in the comfort of my own awesome basement, which everything it contains, likely cost less than a pair of premium season seats. The value just isn't there anymore.

Go old school. Like Chicago Stadium old school. Kill the DJ's, tacky Jumbotron games, and go back to a pipe organ, a Russ Peake clone on the intercom, and focus on the game itself... I'd actually go. And I think many others would too.

A seasons ticket package is buying tickets to every game for the current season upfront for a discount. Most people buy them in pairs.

Not sure if trolling.

Edit: Ok I see where I may have screwed up. Is it a season ticket, or seasons ticket? Is seasons multiple seasons, or multiple seats. Is this like people who call Safeway, Safeways? And I'm Safeways guy?

Most people call those a season ticket. It works for one season. I guess I was trolling like if you bought me a flights to Calgary to watch a games.

You should go to Ruth's Chris before the game too.

That also has a lot to do with the PL
PL skews attendance and price IMO

Close out the PL other than the first three rows and its like 90% capacity which isn't bad at all

I usually go to one or two games a year if I get tickets. Rarely do I buy tickets. Think the last ones I bought were a couple of years ago in the playoffs.

I still find it fun. Different perspective watching live and I like being in the crowd.

But I do agree that it’s definitely not worth the price if you are paying full face value.

I can't even bring myself to suffer through a game on TV. Those gambling ads are something else. I feel like I'm being punished for not watching the game live at the dome.

You want to see entertaining hockey without all the annoying BS at a very affordable price? Go to a game during the Circle K Classic (formerly the Mac's Midget Tournament).
