Yeah… … I'm sure. Her analysis is meh… as well. Not bad, but also not great.
She also has the cadence and tone of a nasally valley girl trying to sound intelligently cool.
I tried to be polite before, but she is completely terrible.
With her & Wills I’ll listen to the oppositions radio feed.
I get the Loubardias comparison but she sounds like Pete with his whine set to 11.

hmm, well I totally disagree on that one
she is also a world class player which puts her ahead of most radio commentators as far as knowing what its actually like to play at the highest level

The highest level? Dude those Canadian national teams regularly lost to Midget AAA teams in Calgary

Those teams also regularly won gold medals at the Olympics. There is no higher level in women's hockey. They are as good as training, practice, and study of the game can possibly make them – and it shows whenever Mikkelson talks about details of the game. You can't say the same for Midget AAA players.

You're entitled to your opinion. It appears that many other people are exercising their entitlement to disagree.

Mikkelson is far from great, but that is to be expected when she is starting out, but I have never found her voice to be a problem.

The trouble is that there are a few posters who describe pretty much every female hockey broadcaster as “screechy” or something similar. Mikkelson has a normal woman’s voice. Yet, as people noted, Whalen is a god here, Loubo is never criticized for his voice, nor Wills. People loved Rick Jeannerette.

I know when I first heard a female colour commentator I thought she sounded strange - and then I realized it was because I wasn't used to a female commentator, and that the voice felt off because it was new. Unconscious sexism. There are many male commentators or announcers that are really irritating but they don't get reduced to criticisms of being screechy.

Wills was criticized heavily when he first started. Rob Kerr was criticized heavily. Loubo was fired from his job on tv in part because people disliked him so much. Even hrudey is disliked by many on here.
Broadcasters are consistently targets. Male or female. This doesnt need to get into a gender argument.

Loubo and Wills are constantly criticized for their voices. Wills has been called all kinds of names like Kermit the frog and other derogatory remarks.
People just really love to #### on sports commentators.

Wills was criticized because he’s cliche ridden and talked about his minor league team, not his voice. And Loubo was mocked for his question and answer style.
No one ever said “screechy” about them. But it’s a common complaint for women in sports broadcasting. Who cares about their voice anyway. Try listening to what they say.

I think she's fantastic. My bar for an analyst is to tell me something I don't know. She does this very well. She offers actual insights.

I don't love her voice for radio but her insight is better than I expected given she's just getting her feet wet.

Yes he was. Particularly when he first started. I distinctly remember people complaining the way he said the word "corner". I distinctly remember it because it was completely ridiculous.

Sure. The evidence will be listening to her screech on the radio.
People have ripped on Loubo for years as well, to the point where he was fired. It’s a high profile position so criticism is also part of it, male or female.
I didn’t mind Cassie Campbell as a broadcaster, and her voice is 10,000 times more palatable than Megan’s. Her insight might actually be worse because she doesn’t have a brother who played professionally.
I didn’t like Cassie broadcasting Flames games while her husband is the teams assistant general manager because the optics of an unbiased description of the events is terrible.

Criticism is part of it, but when you use phrases such as "screech on the radio" and "tone of a nasally valley girl" it feels like things you wouldn't say about a male broadcaster.

Wills voice is annoying. So was will nault and Matt rose.
I don't like Mikkelson either, and I was very supportive of her. She just sounds a bit... Forced and harsh to my ears. But I love evanka osmak. She has a nice voice
