Missed the game last night since at a holiday party. Turned on satellite radio on way home and heard Sarich on post game. Sounded like he was the color guy for the radio broadcast and he did a spot talking about the next game.

Has there been a change or is this some kind of guest role?

Megan Mikkelson is taking a vacation… I think? I was half listening to one of the games earlier in the week on the radio and they mentioned she would be off the next week or two. So no permanent changes.

She mentioned she will be gone for about the next week or so, as she has to go to Kingston (I believe it was) to finish off her MBA. Pretty impressive.

In any other market Megan doesn’t get as many reps as she does here. Her knowledge is fine, but her voice and delivery are not good. I find her terrible and screechy, which may be extreme but she is not “listenable”.

Radio or TV.

It isn’t her fault either. Some people have a voice that is listenable (like some people have a singing voice) others do not.

I would assume Sarich most likely can’t commit to the role full time because he actually has a delivery that is listenable with valuable insight.

If she is getting her MBA then maybe she should switch to the writing side of media to communicate her insight into the game.

I thought she does a great job and I have no problem listening to her. I enjoy hearing Sarich's insights but Megan has earned the job and does not sound "unlistenable".

I hope she stays for a long time and if you don't like it then that's too bad for you.

Curious…. If this is how you feel about her voice, what did you think of Ed Whalen?

Mikkelson is quickly establishing herself as a top-notch colour commentator. Content is great, her delivery on things like reading the script for upcoming promos, etc. will come with time. She's not a trained bingo-caller like many in the business.

Firefox sucks for quoting, but I'll defend the voice complaint. (I haven't heard much of Mikkelson, so not a direct criticism of her) but some voices just grate depending on the person. My example is Mike Emrick -- one of the most highly touted voices of the game, yet to me, he sounds like claws on a chalkboard. Personal preference
