EDIT: a $775k cap hit is probably only going to get paid ~$555k(133/186 days remaining) for the year, so it doesn't work.

My guess is it's a typo because I don't think there's any weird clause in the CBA that would allow a player to sign below league minimum. As a two-way deal, he'll make much less when in the AHL, but the cap hit is still reported as what it is. There is a clause in the CBA regarding RFAs signing midseason that causes their cap hits to be higher in the first season (see Nylander's contract), but I don't know if anything to lower it below the minimum.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly, you just phrase it better!
As for the 555k scenario that was if he was only getting paid NHL money for the remainder of the year. I tried to see if I could get 725 somehow.

I think it's a typo. The math doesn't make sense.

I don't see it mentioned yet in this thread, but Pysyk was also put on waivers today, which is to be expected. Assuming he clears, he'll be able to be sent to the AHL tomorrow.

Before injuries, he was a top 4-top 6 NHL D, similar to a guy like Brett Kulak. Not sure how much they've affected his mobility, but i like this move

Low letter count in his name makes it easier to bring him up if depth is needed.

An experienced guy to put on the Wranglers in case the kids they call up can’t hack it, or someone gets hurt.

How similar are the Flames and Wranglers systems? Send him down to get up to speed and then swap Pysyk and Oesterle after a couple of weeks.

I doubt it. He has only played 8 professional games since April 2022 and they were all in the AHL.

Lots of defensive juggling going on right now. Kylington and now a signing. Guessing there’s more to come. Funny thing is I don’t think it matters what they do I bet the performance won’t drop off.

Super impressed to not see the "yet another replacement level player brought in to block the path for prospects" post!

I like it, I’ve always liked Pysyk, he’s the best player the Oil Kings have ever produced which is pretty sad considering how dominant they were when Pysyk was with them. Guenther should take over the title, he’d look nice in red too.
Edit: forgot about Jarry, he’s been solid. Best skater then.

Good depth piece to have, especially if the Flames end up trading Hanifin and Tanev, and/or if injuries mount. Complete risk free, and a potential for upside too. If Pysk gets back on track, maybe the Flames flip him for a late round pick. If it doesn't work out, that's ok - the Heat need bodies right now. Hopefully it works out and Pysk can get his career back on track, and help out the Flames' organization while doing so.

If they are trading Tanev and Hanifin they are going to need bodies for the AHL and NHL
