Default Opposition demands release of alleged Tory 'dirty tricks' manual

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2007/...-document.html

Opposition parties on Friday demanded the Conservative government make public a reported 200-page guidebook on how to create chaos in parliamentary committees.

...

The guidebook, reportedly handed out to selected Conservative MPs, offers advice on how to favour government agendas, select party-friendly witnesses, coach favourable testimony, obstruct debate and, if needed, storm out of committee meetings.

"Table this playbook so Canadians can see how petty, vindictive and undemocratic this government is," said NDP MP Libby Davies.

Bloc Québecois MP Monique Guay said the document shows a "flagrant lack of respect for government," alleging it was being "deliberately guided by the Prime Minister's Office.

"Table the manual of dirty tricks. It's a contempt for democracy akin to Richard Nixon," said Liberal MP Ralph Goodale, referring to the former American president forced out of office by the Watergate scandal.

The Liberals are in no position to call the Tories "dirty".

I focused on the word reportedly, this is another smoke screen to hide Dion from public view.

The Opposition should show theirs first.

Who made the allegation? I can't find it in the national post, where it was reportedly made. It could have just as easily been a columnist using hyperbole to describe the current goings-on, which the moronic MPs took literally.

Link??

Why am I not surprised. The Conservatives have been shown to be wasting taxpayers time and money, destroying any possibility of being an effective government, that they have lied when they said that they wanted to work with the other parties and all we have is the apologists saying "well, we're not as bad as the Liberals so it's all okay". Oi.

Except that they are not nearly as bad as the Liberals, on any of those counts.

When the Liberals clean up their own act, then they have the right to cast stones. Until that time, it remains a party made up of, and led by, hypocrites.

No, that is not good enough for me. I don't want to have to select between the lesser of two evils. If the conservatives can't clean up their act then they don't deserve to govern. If the Liberals are in the same place on the same scale then they don't deserve to govern either.

At this point though, that is the job of the Liberals, to cast stones and call the government into question.

In typical Liberal fashion, they prefer to sling mud at their opposing parties rather than cast a critical eye on policy decisions. When it comes to politics, the only answer to "the lesser of all evils" is anarchy.

Alright Slava. So neither Tweedledee nor Tweedledum deserve to govern.
If not those two then who? Provide a solution. Just saying the Conservative and Liberals aren't fit isn't good enough. Should we start electing NDs? Or Greens? Or Communists? Or Rhino (didn't they come back)? Or Blocs? Based on what? The last two parties didn't work out, so we'll throw an elective dart at some other party and hope for the best?

Sorry mate, the lesser of two evils is currently the best option.
