Good for him. Not holding my breath for a return soon, or getting my expectations too high for a player who's missed a year and a half.

1.5 years off for him physically should be nothing. He can get back into shape. It's the mental side that might need more time.

Well this is completely unexpected awesome news. The timing of the trade makes way way more sense if he does come back in the near future. Great for the team, but really great for him if he is indeed in a good frame mentally. Really cheering for him.

Theoretically the Flames could send Kylington to the Wranglers on a LTIR Conditioning loan if/when he is close to returning.

The loan can last for a maximum of 3 games or 6 days whatever comes first. Teams can then ask the league for a 2 game extension.

It's the skill development side.

If we have him out just for the PP it would be a win.

They could also makes this happen without forcing him to leave the city.

Two intriguing things is how he might be able to help the powerplay, and how he might mesh with Huberdeau. Huberdeau likes to find the trailer and the thought of Kylington being that guy with his speed, makes me a good feeling.

I know, no timeline. If he does come back, it could still be a while.

With how long this has been going on, I never thought an OV return to the Flames was ever really in the cards.

This would be an enormous boost.

They play two home games next weekend against Manitoba then they're on the road for 5 games leading into the Christmas break. Then, they have an 8 game home stand after Christmas.

I think Oliver, if he is ready, will really like this new style of play the Flames are using. Defense jumping up on every rush would be right up his alley, and like mentioned above, him coming late with Huberdeau would hopefully perk up both guys.

Wishing Oliver the best.

I am still apprehensive to believe that he will play another game in the NHL, but this has to be a step in the right direction.

I'm excited for Kylington to come back and play. Mentally and physically, it could be a really tough comeback, and it's reasonable he could struggle for a while as he comes back up to speed. Hopefully fans stay supportive if that happens, and the human story of him getting his life back together is something we can continue to cheer on and support him.

We need a photoshop of Kylington being dropped by parachute.

Hoping for the best for Kyllington. Obviously it would be a huge development if he regained his form. If he picked up where he left off, he is an obvious replacement for Hanifin if he is traded. If Kyllington, Solovyov and Poirier all take the steps that they have/were on track to do… suddenly the flames’ defence core post Hanifin/Tanev/Zadorov looks pretty good:

Weegar-Kyllington
Andersson-Poirier
Solovyov-Gilbert

If he plays hockey again it would be amazing.

On a human level this is beyond great. I'm glad he's been able to work through his issues.
