Add that of the teams that are likely in on Hanifin, the Islanders first round pick might pan out to be the highest of them.

I like Romanov a lot.. and think he'd be an ideal piece in a Hanifin deal. If you can get a 1st and another decent prospect alongside him you are laughing.

If Hanifin comes with a signed contract he's worth more. I thought Guenther was too ambitious but IMO a signed Hanifin is worth that type of collateral.

I'm back to excited!!

Just to clarify, Friedman said Arizona had taken the longest look at Hanifin but the taking on $7.5M without a lot of tinkering was my own take.

If Toronto goes on a slide particularly wrt goals against (already starting Woll 3rd straight), then the pressure builds immensely for them to add given the sorry state of their blueline.

Tre will need to act and the other potential partners likely also get itchy trigger fingers, as they don't want to miss out.

Here's hoping the leafs soil themselves over the next three games.

Oh wait, never mind, he did. His overall game is nothing special but I’m not rushing to push him out the door for no value.
The problem with Dube isn't that he is not a quality player. It's he likely gets $3M+ this summer. If you look, he seems to be losing some of his prime ice time opportunities to guys like Sharangovich, Zary, Pospsil. Throw in Coronato and Pelletier, if we get value for him, we should take it as we have plenty of Dube's coming up.

I think I'd almost rather have Geekie. I feel like our prospect depth on the wing is pretty good but C is kinda weak.

Not sure if this was posted somewhere.

Hopefully it's not true that we're hesitant to make any deals because we're winning more lately.

Flames don't wat to move Zadorov or Tanev right now because the offers for them are currently sh@t

At least I hope that's an accurate translation.

I hope it's not a winning thing but it wouldn't surprise me.

More likely is they haven't been presented with an offer that entices them enough to take a guy out of a group that's rolling along pretty well.

I think there are deals that would get them to take action in spite of the team's performance on the ice.

100% agree. Teams would not be giving their best offers right now. Nothing wrong with waiting until February or March and getting the best return possible.

Holding out for a Jeannot type return in February is 100% fine with me. There will always be one or two teams that pony up a huge return in the heat of the TDL. Maybe the Flames can be the beneficiaries of one of those trades.

Agreed. Unless there are first round picks being offered without much protection (i.e. only top 3 protected) by teams low in the standings right now… don’t need to rush it. I saw that the islanders have looked in on Hanifin. Them, along with the coyotes, are teams that could go either way in the standings and end up with picks in the top 14 of the draft. Which would be a solid return if they also include a good prospect.

By the trade deadline, the teams offering their first round picks will likely be picking in the 22-32nd overall range.

Well, the Flames really grabbed the Canucks by the balls and made them pony up to get him immediately

So, after seeing what we got for Zadorov, I guess we should be discussing what draft picks in which year for Hanifin?

Lebrun says the Flames are hoping to pull off a sign-and-trade for Hanifin.
