This is fine if it's an eastern team.
Less so that it's Vancouver. When it's the Canucks, you'd better ensure that they're turning their pockets inside out for this guy.
That said Zad isn't as big a difference maker as people have been making him out to be. He's still ideally a bottom pairing d-man and those kinds of guys don't put a team over the top.
Ilya Solovyov will have us getting over Zadorov in short order. Especially when we see how much less mistake prone he is.
I'll miss the hits though.

Underwhelming return for sure, but public trade requests unfortunately make things more difficult in all aspects. I would have waited for the deadline for sure, but we don't have the luxury of knowing the dynamics of the room at the moment.
It's a start of moving out people who don't want to be here, and clearing 3.75M off the books creates flexibility for this club.
It is what it is. Disappointing end to his tenure for a "fan favorite" but he brought that upon himself.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we flipped those picks for a guy like Boqvist or a similar young defender.

I would have expected a 2nd at least.

I have liked what Desimone has brought also since he's been here and I don't think there is much of a drop off between what Desimone/Solovyov/Gilbert bring and what Zadorov has recently.
I would have liked to see Zadorov stay longer term. However, I want players that will stay here.

Embarassing return. Obviously was the best we could get...but that's brutal.
Z screwed us with the public trade request. His value at the deadline would have been significantly greater.
Hopefully this opens the floodgates...but other GM's will see this and assume they can fleece us too.

Conny better be patient with the rest (except maybe Tanev if he wants avoid injury risk) and really squeeze the most value he can. Sure Z isn't a super stud, and Tanev is getting up there in age, but Hanafin and Lindholm are by far the best available players on the trade market right now.
The Toffoli, Z, and even Tanev trades will be inconsequential to how we judge Conroy's trade ability compared to how he does on the big 2 trades. Knock those out the park and the rest is gravy.
