Frankly I would be interested in a Laine 1 for 1 at this point. He's trapped but he's way better than this season's numbers. The problem I see is there is no way they're adding something substantial to him.

Laine+Johnson is the dream scenario, but I think we need a hefty add to lindholm to make that trade reality.

You'd think he would veto a trade to Calgary because of Rasmus.

How about Hubey and Rasmus for Laine and the Dweeb?

Players usually get over that stuff

You don't swap Huby and Laine, you put them together.

If you could figure out what makes him tick, Laine would be the kind of add this team needs. A PP weapon is high on our list of needs

Gross. Rasmus is by far the most valuable piece in that trade. Coleman + Hubderdeau is closer haha

People have been saying that his entire career. He's been in the league for 9 seasons, and his best one was 8 years ago.

Columbus defeats Boston 5-2. Gaudreau, -1 with no points.

He was a small man who a was good at moving a rubber disc on an ice surface, now he's just a small man.

Have not watched a lot of Gaudreau this year but watching the Habs vs Jackets game and it’s kind of sad to see what has happened to him. Feel bad for the guy. Panthers fans might say the same thing about Huberdeau but their struggles seem different IMO. Huberdeau has looked liked he has been trying too hard at times… gripping the stick too tight and trying to make a fancy play to show his skill. The effort has been there but he has struggled with his decision making and execution. And he has been better lately along with the rest of the team.

Gaudreau, on the other hand, looks so dejected. He always looked like a passionate player of the game that wants the puck and wants to be a difference maker. He was an aggressive forechecker and a guy that gained a step when he had the puck. Right now, he looks like he’s lost that. He’s not carrying the puck. He’s dumping pucks in even on opportunities where he could make a skill play. He’s deferring to other guys all the time.

I know there are a lot of fans here bitter about how he left and it’s understandable for the most part… but I do feel bad for him. He was such a fun player to watch that seemed to live and breathe this game. You never know what’s going on in a players head. Could be something off the ice. Could be just a lack of confidence and a lack of fit with the team.

Friggin Johnny.

Should have been a Flame for life. What a bone headed decision.

Don't feel bad for him, he made his choice. The something off the ice is what matters to him now, being a dad and a husband. I feel bad for the Jackets, they thought they were getting a passionate skilled hockey player, not checked out family guy.

Yeah he never struck me as someone who lived the game and was super passionate.

It was just going to the rink and playing some hackey and having fun with the boys.

Glad he’s gone and even better watching him dwindle away and become a boat anchor. He screwed the team last second while toying with them, so he can suffer on ice forever.

Many people get married have families and don’t quit on their employer especially one paying you 10 million.

Could have been in the debate with Iginla as the greatest Flame ever. Instead will be hated by fans in two different countries.

I'm more bummed about Gaudreau's departure leading to Tkachuk's departure (probably the straw that broke the camel's back for Matthew) than the fact that Johnny is no longer here.

Flames probably would've made out okay if they retained Tkachuk and weren't forced into trading him too.

Really was the worst part about JG leaving.

As soon as Matthew signed the 3 year deal in 2019 he was as good as gone. Hindsight is 20/20 but Treliving should have max termed him then. Nothing to do with Johnny.
