5 – Calgary Flames (9-10-3, .477)
It’s pretty easy to see how the Flames are out of it. The only reason that this team isn’t at the bottom of these rankings is that they have somehow strung together enough points of late to offset some of their struggles during the dreadful start they had.
It also seems unlikely the Flames current hot streak — at least by, hot their standards — will continue into the foreseeable future
3 – Edmonton Oilers (8-12-1, .405)
We believe in the Edmonton Oilers. They might have the worst record of all the teams listed in this ranking, and have somehow found themselves third on the list, but we believe.

I don't have time for low IQ drivel from somebody who doesn't watch the games and believes a one dimensional superstar makes a team.

Must be exhausted on the end of a shift? Nope. Puck comes back to him on his own blueline and he is full of energy, breakaway and scores. Everyone is saying what a great goal.
He scored because he is lazy on defense and will sacrifice it for a chance at offense. Reminds me of a beer league guy skating slowly back and then when his team gets the puck is at the red line. Scores lots of points, won’t win a championship.
I hope the Oilers sign him long term, they deserve each other.

It's not like this is an isolated incident either.
His big highlight goal against Toronto last year, same thing. The play only happened becasue McDavid was WAY behind the play.

Lol. It really is astonishing how many media dip***s are drinking the Oiler kool-aid, even after the garbage season they’ve had so far. These people are all such pathetic clowns.

I'm no fancy stats guru, but if I understand correctly, xGA and xGF are "expected" goals based on the quality of shots. So, it shouldn't be considered a good thing if your expected goals against are among the best in the league but your actual goals against are among the worst.
At least if both are bad, you could theoretically improve the expected goals against and your actual goals against should drop. If you're already keeping the quality of shots low and still bottom 5 in the league in GAA, there's no room for improvement and what happens when the other teams start getting higher quality shots?

It’s a complete sham…. The NHL dictates to the networks to promote McDavid because he’s the face of the league. Thank goodness Bedard is only a year or so from taking that over (better with media, likeable kid, team player) and McMilkCarton can go sign with the Rangers or other US team and just collect his McPoints.
McDavid has been a spoiled little self-centered ####### since his junior days and likely long before that.

It can suggest that a mean correction is due for a team that has had a tough start.
If your goalie never improves your screwed, but if he does the team is playing better defense than the goals against would suggest.
Same with shooting percentage. A high xGF should eventually result in more goals if you continue to play the same way, but that can be trumped by a lack of shooting talent.

Why does the media constantly gobble the knobs of the Oilers year after year? It never changes.

Lol, of course. They wouldn't be the Oilers if they didn't look at signing every reprehensible piece of s*** that hits the market.
Also, more offence for the McPP!

Do they even have $4M in Cap space? Ugh...the thought of Perry and Kane on the same line...
Just even being on the same team flight as those dirtbags?

Does anyone believe that Corey Perry would play for the Oilers? My impression was always that Perry loved nothing more than beating the crap out of both Alberta teams. I have often thought he would retire first before ever setting foot in a Flames or Oilers dressing room.

But he'll get to play with the Wonder Twins! Guaranteed Stanley Cup!
