I had a lot more time for Bertuzzi than Marchment.

This was so confusing to read after I had Marc-Andre Fleury loaded in my brain from the earlier post.

Marchment is just hockey dirty. Would you take Truoba on the Flames today?

What did Simon do prior to coming here? Wasn't his stomping incident after he was a Flame?
Bertuzzi was a hard one.
The real disgusting one was Marchment for being a piece of trash on the ice trying to injure people all the time.

Marchement went after players' knees, intentionally. And yeah, I'd have qualms about Trouba because while there's a difference, it's not that big.

He was always a dirty player. The incident and what was alleged with Mike Grier is pretty skeevy and pre-dates his stint in Calgary.

Sure it's real.
Those insiders depend on their contacts and mutual trust with them, to be able to do their job. So there is an understanding of what is on the record and isn't. And if you violate that - you will quickly obliterate that trust and no one will talk to you.
Which is why a guy like Rick Westhead has a different job as an investigative reporter. That's why you see guys like him break actual stories. But most media outlets are not funding those roles any more.
But you can't expect the traditional insiders to be the one that break stories like this with any detail.

Social media also includes national and local news (local to some extent). I'd just take them for entertainment, laugh, and move on. You can't believe anything you hear these days, even if you think the source is "reputable" or there is a small bit of truth. The problem lies in that little bit of truth because the crap that's transmitted becomes fact. It's even worse if the messages are political. Every form of media should be called "Influenzal Media". It's a virus that's plagued us over history and it's only getting worse and spreading faster over time.
Anyway, I think most who posted earlier (including myself) on in this thread already knew the rumors weren't true but just having a good laugh over it. Corey Perry probably had a chuckle over those rumors and I'm sure when he gets old and thinks back about these rumors he'd have an even bigger laugh. Enjoy the earlier posts while you can.

There's so many different rumours out there about this. I read another one about it being an incident involving a Chelios.

Gambling?
I really have no idea. You’re correct that the timing is unusual

This is my guess too. Why else would they pull him from a game. Maybe he had bets on the game?
Although since it’s Perry, I also think booze and inappropriate behavior could be a possibility.

The risk to reward on betting Blackhawks to lose wouldn’t really be worth it.

If Perry got creepy with a staff member then a midgame pull could make sense if that staff member travels with the team

I don't think it is gambling. Davidson said specifically said that it was a work place incident and violated club policy as it pertains to "professional and safe work environments".

There was a rumour on Reddit (it's now deleted).
Perry got very drunk at the hotel bar and he had sexually harassed a female staff member.

This one could have legs. Hawks getting out front on the incident and actual charges against Perry could be next.
