Dude set a record for assists at his position. Let's make him not pass.

He certainly isn't going to set any records with the way he's been passing the last two years. I was obviously joking, but he needs to shoot more to make his game less predictable and that will open up more passing lanes.

He shot near as much as he passed last night. Caused one fat rebound which Coleman missed and a nice toe save by Hill. Happy?

See what good happens when he shoots more.
He also made some really bad passes, one behind the back pass led to a turnover and break away, another he was alone at the side of the net with an open top corner, but instead, he tried to pass it back to the middle which led to another turnover.

I honestly think he didn't expect Hill to be caught so flat footed on that play.
It looks so bad in the replay because you're like "why didn't you shoot with the goalie out of position" but in the speed of it all I could see how he's thinking "if this one-touch pass back connects it should lead to a tap in", but missed that he had a lot of open room because generally he shouldn't have had that much open room off of the first pass alone.
But I do actually 100% agree. The games where he tends to have more open space are the games where he actually shoots a bit more earlier on in the game when he has an opportunity.

He also made some great passes. You can see what he wants to do, even where the pass doesn't work.
Go nack and watch old Gretzky video, but complete games, and watch how many passes don't work. You'd be surprised. What happens when you watch a player for mistakes rather than just the overall game is that those mistakes are what you remember. Hell - go watch how much Gaudreau turned the puck over.

Huberdeau himself said he needed to shoot more to be more effective.

What's interesting about the Flames is that the top 3 point getters play on three different lines.

No doubt. But he is what he is and focusing on a couple plays where he could have shot is pretty useless.

Those are two plays I remember, but certainly aren't outliers of his time with the Flames.

He has a good shot, but like the rest of the team hitting the net is an issue.

Imagine thinking anything said about a player here by one of us is “dunking” on that player.

Huberdeau's been a lot better since lining up with Backlund and Coleman. He's been less invisible and has been more effective on a shift by shift basis. He's never going to live up to his $84M contract here, but him making meaningful plays and being relatively impactful is the best we can hope for at this point.

Maybe the team can introduce him to Zarry's mom and then terminate his contract!

Sorry, how about having a brief review of the player's time in Calgary while highlighting the less than positive results.
Better?
