Boy what a mess there. Their solid rookie Voronkov apparently also wants to go back to Russia.

I still think BUF is a good trading partner.
1) they have an abundance of young top six forwards either on team presently (Cozens - 22, Benson - 18, Peterka - 21, Middelstadt - 25, Thompson - 26, Quinn - 22)
2) they have an abundance of top six forwards marinating in the minors (Kulich - 19, Rosen - 20, Savoie - 19, Ostlund - 19, Wahlberg - 18)
3) there is serious pressure to have success on the club now. patience is wearing thin and the thought was they would have a competitive team this season. This hasn't panned out and they are likely heading for another year missing the playoffs.
The fact that they have a limited amount of places to play these top six forwards (not including another high draft pick in 2024), and that they need immediate success, I could see them making a hockey trade for one of our D (signed). Savoie plus a 2nd for a signed Hanafin??

Kind of seems like Vincent is grinding the players down. It's not a good situation and probably not far fetched that a guy like Lindholm would want nothing to do with playing for them regardless of some ex-teammates being on the roster.

Trade a signed Lindholm for 1st, Chinnakov and Voronkov.
Re-sign Z to mentor them.
Profit.

I would really like to see him get more playing time.

I would love to get Cozens on the Flames. I just don't see Buffalo making him available. He's a part of their long term plans. Same with Thompson, those two are their building blocks at center.

If I had to bet, Vladar has more years ahead of him as an NHL starter than Markstrom does.

The reason people and the Flames are looking to trade Vladar is because it is almost impossible to trade Markstrom and they have 3 goalies
The question is who is the next Kipper and who is the next Toslala? Vladar or Wolf?

I still wonder about the possibility of getting Jack Quinn, although I worry about how his achilles injury will affect him going forward. Will that be an injury that keeps coming back?

Finally agree with you on something haha.
I'd trade Markstrom and roll Vladar and Wolf if possible

I think teams would line up to get him after how he’s been playing so far….

Hoping Flames execs don't make blanket assumptions on who is tradeable and who is not!

Yes, they need to move a goalie at some point. But I strongly disagree that Markstrom is unmovable. There are multiple teams that need a goalie, and he is highly regarded around the league, regardles of what fans think. It is common for home town fans to value a goalie lower than everyone else does - we all see our goalie's mistake. But the truth is that all goalies make them.
The best situation for the Flames is to remain patient, and 'let the game come to them'. Someone will make a good (desperate) offer for a goalie soon enough. If we can move Markstrom, great. If it's Vladar, great. But either way, being patient, in order to get a better return, is the best way to proceed.

I get that, and it makes sense. Markstrom's contract makes him less virtually untradeable. I just mean the posts that suggest we need to get rid of Vladar even if it means trading him for nothing or putting him on waivers. There have been a few people suggesting that.
Wolf is a good prospect still, but you could probably bet that he will have occasional struggles and growing pains in the NHL. It's just the way goalie progression typically works most of the time.
