If I were McDavid and I only cared about money, I'd ask for successive 1-year max deals and the moment you think they might say no, an 8-year max retirement contract. Weaponize the constant cap increases instead of settling.

Gretzky had 58.4% of his career points by the end of his age-27 season, the same season McDavid is in now.

It really was masterful. They gave him that extension a year early based off his bubble stats which proved to be an anomaly rather than wait to see if he could repeat it in a traditional 82 game season. That's why they pay GM's the big bucks.

Ha ha ha. They will surely try to sell another Oil Change out of necessity. There's already a thread at HF Oilers asking if fans will follow the Oilers when McDavid/Drai leaves and 40% claim they will pack their bags which I find crazy high even if a lot of them will likely circle back over time. It's going to be hard for that market to recover IMO. Could lead to a dark timeline for them.

Even with their 2 wins this week, the Oilers are still in 29th place and are 4 points back of the Flames, who have lost two of their last three, lol.

Edmonton is no good.

Keeping them out of the bottom three is important.

Seems to be the only place where they find good NHLers (and even then..)

Its even funnier when you realize Holland bridged him after a bridge deal and ended up extending him for that ridiculous deal based off a fluke year.

One of the greatest GM's of all time.

Once McDrai is gone they won't need the extra urinals as there will be plenty of empty seats.

It will be about 10 years old when the work is complete, which sadly is about 1/3 of the way through the expected lifespan of a modern arena.
