People seem to keep spotting Oliver around Calgary which gives me some slight hope he might still return.

I wish Poirier wasn't injured, so we could get a good look at him.

TOI: 265th overall, #9 (so he is outproducing his TOI)
PPG: 202nd, #7, WITH ZERO PP POINTS
So he is getting the opportunity of a 3rd liner (lower TOI and little PP time), and yet he is producing as a 2nd liner.
|
Pretty goofy way to determine this but sure right now he's tied in group 196-223 which puts him outside the top 6 for scoring around the league.
If we go points per game he's in group 249-256 so again outside the top 6.
But either way no contender is saying we need to add Yegor Sharangovich to bolster our top 6 and that's ultimately what matters. I don't really care if he could make the San Jose Sharks top 6.

That would be nice.
I think the biggest thing hurting the PP at the moment is the lack of an offensive minded defenseman. Andersson is the closest thing we have, but his offensive game is more about just shooting and sometime jumping in on the rush. He's not a player that orchestrates plays on the powerplay.

I have no idea what Dube is anymore. He has regressed from last season.
Duehr has dissappeared though. I think they should send him back down.

Dube’s never gonna be more than what he is. We’ve been waiting long enough for him to truly “pop off”. He’s a middle six forward at best

Dube is the city endorser. He’s a guy that can play up and down your line up, not cost you on the defensive side of things. Point contributions won’t wow you ever.
He brings most value off the ice, he’s committed to the area all year round for community events. Welcomes the young guns to the city, shows them around and everything that Calgary and area has to offer. This is very important and required in a market like Calgary.

I don't doubt that at all. I talked to him in the summer, he's one of the biggest supporters of this franchise. The Calgary Flames run through his blood - dude LOVES this team.

That’s some nice insight. Thanks
He does seem to have lost his mojo a bit. Any insight on his slow down?

I appreciate that. It’s always good to have good ambassadors for the Flames even if they aren’t superstars

Huska and Dube have a long history. I think they’ve moved him around too much this season. There is a different mental and physical preparation required depending on the role he’s playing. We’ve seen him play from top to bottom on this roster this year. Perfect world he’s the juice with Backlund and Coleman but he’s grinding it out on the 4th line because of Huberdeau lack of chemistry when slotted in the top 6..
Often the team tries to roll 3 lines going into the third and he’s often apart of the rotation and that’s Huska’s indicator that he’s happy with the player. You see even more of Dube if the flames are holding the lead as seen in Dallas.
Mojo isn’t an issue here. He’s a bumper car out there and he’s willing to take a hit to make a play.

Let's be honest ...
Oliver is done as a Flame . You can't come back after all this time and be the same player . I've dealt with psychological triggers my whole life(asbergers).if hockey's his trigger there's no coming back. Sometimes certain issues only are solved by 100% avoidance. He tried then went right to ltir.

Let's see.
You don't know what his problem is, or what his trigger is, or what treatment he's pursued, or where he is in that process.
But you're quite sure he'll never play hockey again, because you have Asperger's and that's totally the same thing.

Very classy way to word your response. Kudos.
I never said he won't play hockey again . Many ways to play hockey again.
What I do have is experience in similar situations or others that experience similar situations. That being their own or people that work with people in similar mental health situations. I'm not saying I know his problem but I see the same process being taken. Hard to explain what I mean but I see what me and others have had to do . Same processes but different situations if that makes any sense.
He was all good , tried for a very small bit of time then could not be in that situation again. This is a fact.
All power to him for recognizing what he can and can not do.
