My hypothesis has always been that Edwards wants to really win a cup, but he's kind of old and not super healthy. So his time horizon is a little shorter than the rest of us.

Murray Edwards is 63 and a billionaire.
He’s not old.
Back to the lab.

If you think that $3-$6 million in revenue is the sole focus of a billionaire currently spending $8 million on the team for nothing (Sutter), and you think that the same $3-$6 million in revenue is the difference between the team making or losing money then I think your business sense is laughably bad and basically non-existant.

A sarcastic analogy isn't false or hypothetical.
It's meant to parody the topic, which in this case I think it does perfectly!
I'd say you've waffled off your original point a fair distance to suggest some wrongness.
And I think the majority reading this would agree.

Well then good thing your opinion on the matter is meaningless and what the team actually does is what matters.

LOL
I didn't waffle off anything, again you have to resort to lying about what happened and then trying to appeal to some "majority of people" as though that matters at all especially with the bias that would be present.
But I am not shocked as we have had enough interactions at this point for me to know what your schtick is.

And because you don't like the results you don't get to make up your own negative narrative. That's what trolls do.
Myself, and many others, based on actual financial reasoning don't believe that Edwards cares more about 2 games of playoffs revenue than winning a Cup. And your opinion is just as useless but also lacks rationale thought.
Message board opinions are useless, and since you agree maybe you can give us all a break and stop forcing the same garbage opinion over and over into every topic you can?

I get the sentiment, but this view is being way overdone by fans. Even if your premise is correct that the Flames won't be competitive until he is over 30, the fact remains that every team has players over 30. When they are competitive (whenever that is), they will need veterans on the team.
And in the meantime, they need players to lead the way for the kids, and show them how to be pros. Look at any team that didn't do that (EDM, BUF, etc), they left the kids to figure it out for themselves, and that usually doesn't go well.
Even in a rebuild, you need vets and you need to maintain culture and good professional habits.

Not making up anything, I am going off what the club has actually shown.
Edwards would gladly take a Cup I am sure but has shown that he doesn't want to risk the loss of revenue for multiple years with no guarantee that it would work out to increase the chances the club has at winning. He isn't a Jerry Jones type owner that cares about winning above all else.
This has been shown by the actions of the club and reports from various sources in the industry.

I’m pretty sure Edwards and co want to win a cup. Every team does. It’s just their way of going about it isn’t the best way to do it

I really wish people would stop debating with Spurs, and giving him a platform to continually spew his garbage. His goal isn't discussion, it's to bog down the board with his negativity. No one is going to change his views.
Look at the GT from the Dallas game - great come-from-behind win against a good team, but the last couple hundred posts are almost entirely people arguing with Spurs. He got EXACTLY what he wanted from that.

I don't post often but you do realize you are arguing with the owner of the site and quite frankly, his analysis has always been right on the mark.
Whats that old saying? if you dont like it or disagree, you always have the choice to leave.

Yes I do know that Bingo owns the site but I think he has said, and even if he hasn't I would hope he would feel, that people are free to argue with him when it comes to hockey related things. If that is not the case and we all have to bow down to his views fair enough but that is not my understanding of how the site works.
It is great if his analysis in your eyes has been right on the mark I haven't seen that at all, but that also doesn't mean that everything else that is said going forward is automatically right as well.
If the rule is no defending your points or giving your opinion fair enough i will leave but seems pretty weak to say that posters can't disagree with how the owner of the site wants the team to be run.

I think you need a few more if you think I'm a "liar".
And I'd put my history on this site in interacting with others against your schtick anytime.
Going from the Flames to well maybe not the management but the owner is a waffle.

You're probably right.
I've never blocked anyone in the 20 plus years of the site, but I certainly don't have to dig in with someone with a clear agenda and provide them the fuel for their silliness.

No I have always said that the owners give instructions down to the management that they may or may not agree with. That isn't waffle. It is why I never went all in on the Treliving hate because we aren't sure how much of what he did was dictated by what he wanted versus what he was asked/told to do from ownership.
You have shown over the last few days that you lie about what I say. The other day you tried to pass it off as not having a photographic memory rather than just admitting you got it wrong. I normally would chalk it up to a mistake but when you do it repeatedly hard to think it isn't done on purpose.

Go ahead and link me to one report or one various source that says Edwards is afraid of losing the revenue from 2 playoff games.
Everyone can see what the club has done over the past 20 years. Various highs, abysmal lows, and a whole lot of middle of the road. You like to spew that the Flames are and will forever be mediocre or worse (cause you're a troll), and you try and justify that by using the past results to as basis that Edwards cares more about 2 playoff home games than winning a Cup.
A lot of other people, actual fans, see the exact same results you do They, myself included, don't have the same negative opinion. And it's based on actual financial reasoning and what the club has actually shown.
