Maybe, but it feels like the message to the locker room came out in the post interview tonight.

And Rollin's is a professional, if he hasn't gotten over what happened a decade ago, and if Punk is holding a grudge from a decade ago, then that's a personal problem. I would throw Punk and Rollins together right off the bat. And the good news, is there's no rush to put a belt on Punk.

Isn't he coming to the end of his contract? There's been rumbling that he's been unhappy with how he's been used for a while, and he felt like more or a throw in tonight.

Cap, i know you're a WWE apologist but you have to entertain the idea that this doesn't make the roster very happy and can have implications if things don't work out. Punk has a notorious track record as a primadonna and narcissist.

It could all be a work, but alot of these guys - WWE and AEW - are friends outside the business and have opinions on stuff like this.

Hey it could make the roster unhappy, I never discounted that. But at the end of the day, the message is going to be the same. He's here to do business and so are you. And yeah, Punk is a premadona, there's no doubt and probably the worst environment for him was AEW which is full of them and doesn't have strong leadership.

I mean seeing Rollins freaking out whether its a work or not, Punk and HHH and the roster are going to have to get over it, he's here now, I'm sure there were conditions made around his signing. At the same time this isn't Vince's WWE anymore with him stirring the pot and pitting worker against worker.

As for McIntyre, the rumor is he wasn't going to resign anyways.

Totally overshadowed Orton as well after 18 months away. Nice welcome back. Gotta get that Chicago crowd in on their hometown guy.

I forgot to even mention that, Orton is so amazing and that comeback should have been enough. Nobody does a power slam like him. He looked absolutely jacked to. I normally hate face Randy, but man he popped that crowd.

It can work in WWE for a couple reasons.

1) My guess is he's going to have more of a part time deal, less of the time in the locker room week to week less time to rub people the wrong way.

2) WWE seems to be less clicky in the locker room. AEW had ex-wwe guys, the elite guys, and then the younger AEW originals and it didn't (and still doesn't) feel like those groups always got along. Punk was able to latch onto that to start his own group in his fued against the Elite and Colt Cabana's buddies, that won't happen in AEW. I'm sure some guys like Kevin Owens that are buddies with the Young Bucks will have issues, but they probably won't work much together anyways.

3) HHH is infinitely better at managing a locker room than Tony Kahn is, and that's not even mentioning the group of professionals they will have that deal with this at TKO. Not like UFC doesn't have a lot of egos that literally want to hurt each other all the time too.

I had almost forgotten but it's actually not Punk's first time on WWE programming in 10 years, he was on that Fox show too. The networks that WWE work with clearly like having the CM Punk pop.

And yeah Orton looked incredible. Bigger yet still super defined. Could be an interesting story with him and Jey there if they go down that path. Could really solidify Jey as a top of the card guy.

Apparently everyone in the Wargames match knew what was going to follow. It hasn't overshadowed Orton's return as a lot of talk is still about Orton. McIntyre is expected to take time off for family things, but apparently has no heat with or within WWE.

I'm not counting on it but maybe Punk tries to squash beef with people who he's had issues with in the past like he tried to the first time he was suspended from AEW and showed up uninvited backstage at a WWE show in Chicago.

I remember The Miz was one that was mentioned he talked to about it and he asked HHH if they could go somewhere to talk but after talking to Vince HHH told him he had to leave and he left without issue.

Looking at some things.

Drew walked out before CM Punks music played and he was holding half of his face. Did anyone see if he got injured? Might explain why he was pissed.

Fightful said that the main event participants were told before they went out that Punk was going to make an appearance.

Rhea's reaction was interesting She gave the finger to the crowd and mocked Punk.

On the video it looks like Orton loved it, he pulled up a chair in the ring sat down and waved at punk and tapped his watch, that's when Punk waved at the ring.

It sounds like Seth was pissed backstage and according to Frightful, Punk was confused by it.

HHH's comments on Jade were interesting, it sounds like she was pulled back to the performance center for more work because she's limited, and they want to make sure she can handle anything.

Personally if I was booking, I would have held off Punk's return until Monday as we had a massive return of Orton and a successful PPV, but then again it was in Chicago. But it did over shadow the end of the show.

They're going to get a huge ratings bump on Monday and on the upcoming weeks. I've seen many say Punk returning is the biggest surprise return of all-time. No one saw this coming. Whatever your feelings are for Punk, in the short term this will pay huge dividends for WWE. There's really no risk for them, as they've been putting up huge numbers in recent months anyway. I bet this will also help in television negotiations for SmackDown rights in the upcoming months.

I would love to see a future Cena/Punk match as well. They've built up such a rivalry over the years. If they don't want Punk in a title match at Mania, they could easily build that feud as a main event calibre match.

I didn't pay attention much to WWE back when Punk was in his prime days so I don't really understand the hype around him, but it seems fans really latched on when he did his pipebomb promo. Do fans primarily like him because he "tells it like it is" kind of guy? He gives a lot of "straight talk" and makes it seems like he's the realist guy ever but dude just seems like a hypocrite. Which is why I don't understand why fans desire this guy so much.

He could be just pissed they lost for storyline purposes.

It looks like the camera guy motions for him to leave here.
