Why? Because they’re in the mushy middle. They’re a mediocre team *at best*.

8-10-3.

If they don’t sell their free agents, then they’ll never be more than what they are now.
The "at best" was unnecessary, and frankly wrong. They're a mediocre team on average.

You think they’re capable of being more than mediocre? Since this team was constructed in the off-season of 2022, they’ve not shown anything more than mediocrity.

I think that’s their ceiling. Hence the “at best”.

Their goalie made the save he should and ours did not, and that's the game. Can't be mad at the players, they didn't give up.

You don't think they are playing substantially better lately..."big zero points" they aren't gonna be getting a top 5 pick, team is too good...sorry to disappoint you.

They dominated Dallas and even the Avs at times

7 home 14 road too

Pounded Vancouver, Pounded Dallas

They can sell free agents...get a Wolf and Markstom tandem in here already

Yeah man, they beat Dallas last night. I don't think you understand how averages work.

Remove Lindholm, Hanifin, Tanev, and Zadorov and I think they’ll challenge for a top 5 pick.

They missed Raz for 4 games and they were at the bottom of the league. The team doesn’t have the depth to miss any of these players.

Two off the crossbar, fortunes could have been different tonight if not for a few centimetres.

Just let him do that, every time he comes in here he post stuff like that about the Flames. It must make him happy, IDK.

First Zadorov lol... replacement

The other guys probably get a return no? I would sign Hanifin

You can want the Buffalo 12 (13?) Year rebuild if you like...not what I want

Sit Zary till he's healthy. It almost feels like they're rushing him back into the lineup to stay in the playoff race which is terrifying if you're team "Sell all the UFAs".

A game like this reinforces the need for the organization to be smart and continue with the plan to re-build/re-tool (whatever you want to call it). Patience is the only out and you can see that the effort is there but not necessarily the skill. Continue with the plan to sell off UFA’s and get some good prospects and draft picks. The drafting of this team has been a strong point.

The team playing better as of late should not cause the plan to change. The reason why they are playing better is because of the injection of youth. Stick with this and hopefully you get lucky with drafting and prospects and get out of the basement sooner rather than later. Don’t fall into the trap, or falsehood that being out of a wild card spot by 2 points going into tonight means you have a “chance.”

Did he play a regular shift near the end of the game? To my eye he did not and he has been the teams most dynamic forward since he's been called up.

There was really no reason to offer Vladar this extension. Dansk is just as good as any other team's 3rd goalie.

Good third period push by the Flames. Effort was there but couldn't solve the goaltending of Prosvetov.

If they don’t sell their free agents I’m going to take a serious look at my fan card of the Flames. I want a championship in my life time (being 2 doesn’t count) and if their entire goal is to just make the playoffs and not engineer a Stanley cup team I don’t think I have it in me. I don’t even want to think about it.

It doesn't just have to be prospects and picks either. If you can get a good young NHL player back in any of the deals Conroy should consider it.

I would rather take a young player who I know what I'm getting than take a chance on a 20-32 or later draft pick that may not ever make the NHL.

again this is different then cheering for losses "big zero points"

when the team is keeping up with and outplaying top teams...they seem to be improving greatly under this coach. You can not lose UFAs for nothing and still be a good team IMO.

If they win 5 of the next 20 we have a different convo but I honestly don't think that is how it's trending.

3 weeks ago all the tank is best experts thought Zary was a 4th liner ceiling guy

How many years have I been told that the Sabres and Sens are super sMRT now? Maybe there is another way...not tanking and not losing any UFAs for nothing or signing bad deals

Nearly the entire league is average...who are you guys scared of? Vancouver? Dallas? Winnepeg? Avs I guess...Flames just played them tough
