The record for a boxing day game is about 8%.
So wouldn't you have to total the numbers for every teams games? Aren't there multiple games going on at the same time?

Once you’re part of a large family that is quite spread out, it’s nice to have options to split major holidays.

I mean these holidays occur when they do. The 4th is another big one when families gather. It just feels like more of a thing in the US to do this.

To be totally fair, that small percentage that watches an individual football game on Thanksgiving is bigger than the entire Canadian population, and bigger than the highest global viewership a single full tournament of the world juniors has ever had.

So, yeah, it’s not nothing. I just wanted to show that the World Juniors are also very much “not nothing” in Canada.

Watching Canada hammer Germany 9-1 or whatever and listening to the guys on TSN say how incredible it is that one of the kids put up 5 points against poor competition is something I can do without. I might not have lost interest entirely by the time the games matter two weeks later, but it's hardly a huge tradition for me.

When the tournament was mostly in Europe the appeal of an early Boxing Day game was certainly better. Recovering from dinner with hockey on in the morning was fun. Now that the tournament is in Canada and the US three out of four years or whatever it is and the games are moved to prime time takes a lot of that away, IMO.

Yo keep the hockey talk to the proper forum please. This is where we get to enjoy a break from talking about how fun it is to watch other people play sports.

This story says 19.4 million Canadians watch some of the 2015 World Junior tournament with 13.4 watching at least part of the Gold medal game: https://m.worldjunior2017.com/en/new...ership-record/

That was the year Toronto and Montreal co-hosted the tournament and the McDavid hype was big. Canada's population was around 35.4 million at the time.

Of course, those sorts of numbers are estimates from the ratings agency, and included anyone who happened to be in the same room as where the game was on the tv for at least 1 minute, so who knows how accurate they really are?

The U.S. will change the Thanksgiving Day date right after they adopt the metric system and ban guns.

Boxing day shopping has largely subsided with Black Friday becoming a thing in Canada, but before that it was Canada’s version of Black Friday.

Guess you’re not very Canadian.
The first day of the tournament. 50% on the Boxing Day itself (total, all games)?

Waitress confused look

UCB "I'll have a Traditional please"

Waitress "A Traditional? Is that a cocktail"

UCB "No it's a beer, Big Rock?"

Waitress "We only carry local breweries here"

FFS, Big Rock is an OG local brewery

You want to keep Thanksgiving and Halloween separate. Gotcha. I'm not saying it's a hill to die on, just mused out loud that a tiger striped option seemed kinda interesting.

Just like how you probably won't like eating cheezies and black licorice at the same time although in theory they kinda look good together.

Judging by the number of our sales guys who came in today (zero) that answer is 'yes'.

Haha this is probably the first time I've laughed out loud on CP in all these years. That was weirdly awesome.

I think my biggest laugh on CP was when someone was talking about basketball and someone else imbedded a YouTube video about the Heritage Moment around a Canadian inventing basketball. Only problem was the video started normal and then devolved into this horror-like trailer where the caretaker was out for blood because they wanted to cut holes in his peach baskets.

"Let's cut the bottom out of the basket"
"But I need these baskets back..."

"You take my baskets......I take your life!"

The total unexpected turn in the video was priceless.
