I feel like I owe Gordon Lightfoot an apology for what you're about to read:
Spoiler!
(*ahem*)
The Wreck of the Edmonton Oilers
The legend lives on from Fort Chipewyan on down
To the shore where the Bow River’s flowy
The Greasers’, it’s said, playoff hopes are long dead
When the skies of November turn snowy
Such a load of No Good, defence passed where they stood
Just like pylons at practice they cluster
From the Stanley Cup chase they can soon be erased
For the squad is so lacking in luster
The team was the pride of the Sweatpanters’ side
Skating ‘round in the District of Ice
With a roster so thin it’s as though it had been
Chewed on by hungry legions of field mice
A line-up of heels ‘cause of big money deals
That were signed by McHobo and Pissy
And a blueline so bare (much like Ron MacLean’s hair)
Makes the Wonder Twins throw such a hissy
The net, if you please, it is filled by Swiss cheese
Having no backstopper? It’s such a hobbler
Coach Woody on the bench couldn’t mask up the stench
Now they’re coached by some guy called The Knobbler
Evander’s a rat and the power play’s flat
So no extra points they’ll be stealin'
At the end of each game as the final buzzer came
T'is the curse of No Good that they’re feelin’
Columbus may stink, and the Wild too (I think)
But their records beat Edmonton’s yawners
And the ‘Hawks and the Jets they have more pucks in nets
From their rosters’ respective Connors
And further on down Sharks from San Jose town
Are holding the NHL cellar
But gone head-to-head – put the Oilers to bed
And finished the game looking stellar
From Detroit to Mulletville, poor Kenny H
Sees his legacy rendered asunder
As daily, he rues. not e’en rose-coloured hues
Can hide such a huge career blunder
The legend lives on from Fort Chipewyan on down
To the shore where the Bow River’s flowy
The Greasers’, it’s said, playoff hopes are long dead
When the skies of November turn snowy

There are potentially 91 teams that Edmonton teams could be better than.
They are better than 5.
Of the 91 teams in biggest leagues that Edmonton teams play in, there are only 5 that could not say "Well, at least we aren't Edmonton".
But to be honest, I think those 5 teams probably would say that anyway.
Well how many of those teams other teams are as bad as Edmonton's other teams?
Reading an article about blockbuster between Canadiens and Oilers. And the massive return to Montreal is headlined by Xavier Bourgault…… am I missing something. Not big forward with decent speed but is a less than 0.5 pts/game in the AHL. Guessing tops out at 2nd line, if cracks NHL at all.

This is amazing and appears to support the E=NG proposition.

FC Edmonton were so bad that they folded.

On February 8, 2022, it was announced that club president Eric Newendorp had left the club and was replaced by former Edmonton Oilers executive Jeff Harrop.[27][28] The majority of Edmonton's roster in 2022 was players on loan from other CPL clubs.[29] The team finished the season in last place, recording just 4 wins in 28 matches.
Finally a thread title that’s equally as no good as the oilers. Terrible team deserves a terrible thread title. The previous ones were too clever.
Haha, this is the worst title we've come up, it's so lame. But the good thing is, the Oilers ineptitude rises above any thread title, and this season is no exception.
I think we will be filling these threads pretty quickly over the next 2-3 years. There is going to be an overflow of E=NG. I think whats going on right now is just the tip of the iceberg.
Genuinely want to know if we are going to see a McDavid extension come 2025, or do we all suspect he's gone?
Reasons why he'd want to leave:
- Fiance would be happier in literally any other market
- More privacy in general
- Can move closer to home if he desires
- Better chance of winning / more competitive team
- Warmer weather literally anywhere
- More entertainment / fun things on days off
- Less travel
- Less media / no media clowns
- Has his pick of any city he wants to play in
- More competent management wherever he chooses to sign
- Better prospects in the pipe wherever he chooses to sign to keep his team competitive over the duration of his next contract
- Not being in Edmonton
Reasons why he might want to stay
- Single franchise legacy
- Potentially stay with his friend Draisaitl (who will more than likely leave first)

Didn't they also hire his entire 'team'? former agent, former coach, etc. I assume that was meant to help convince McD to stay as well
