Makar actually has a higher points per game. He also has more takeaways, fewer giveaways, and way fewer defensive zone giveaways. Makar has 4 more points than Rantanen, the next highest on the team. Seems more important to the Avalanche.

I was back in Vancouver for a couple of weeks on business. All my boys out there are saying that Hughes is probably going to be better than Makar. After 19 games this season. Canuck fans gonna Canuck.

Canucks are not a "really good team"

they have had really good goaltending and have taken advantage of bad teams for the most part. Their record is evening out as is their schedule

Good goaltending, top of the league PDO early on due to early inflated shooting percentages. Teams don't summon offense in games that they don't actually control play-wise forever. Lady luck eventually shines her light elsewhere. Now the Canucks have to put in the work ethic like every one else not riding the PDO rainbow.

Now that things have come back to earth we can see more or less what they actually are.

Quietly up near the top of the list in points so far this season. Backbone in lots of ways for Canucks start to the season.
