Huby is on a 3 game point streak and has 12 points while Johnny is stuck at 7. The Jackets would have to add at this point in a trade between the two

Laine for Lindholm?

Texier seems like a target the Flames would be into.

Johnny has 2 points in his last 2 games LOL.

No one is assessing value based on a few games.

Their value would be based strictly on which player teams felt had a better chance to bounce back.

And their contracts. Hubby's is higher, longer and completely buy out proof.

And that kind of decision is based on info none of us is likely privy too.

I doubt that Columbus is interested in a rental? If they can get Lindholm to sign, sure.

How about trade Lindholm + Huberdeau for Laine, 1st / not protected/ + Gudbranson + prospect.
They got 1st line for struggling expensive player and salary dump. So their real cost is 1st.

What is the fascination with Laine? He is lazy, inconsistent, and expensive.

There are good reasons to not want to sign Lindholm to a huge, 8 year deal, but Lindholm is a great player - trading him for Laine is about the most backwards thing the franchise could do.

I heard something on the radio yesterday (maybe the Real Kyper Show?) that Laine has failed to evolve his game even a little since he was drafted. Most players add tools as they grow into the NHL, and Laine never did, which is why he is now such an ineffective player. Unfortunately, this is probably what he is moving forward.

My impression is that he believes he is 'a goal scorer' and has value as that. And he doesn't want to be anything beyond that.

Assuming the GM wants to run like Treliving did, otherwise make no sense to trade a high lottery pick

Given the respective contracts, no they wouldn't.

It might be closer to even though. You could possibly finagle a trade straight across at this point, but Columbus might still want some retention on huby

Columbus is a team that likely needs a rebuild as badly as the Flames.

They make terrible trade partners.

Plus the chances of Columbus trading a first round pick unprotected is less that their chances of winning the Stanley Cup.

Hubby and a rental won't fix the BJ's problems, only add to it.

How about Laine and Gaudreau to the Flames for Andersson, a first (unprotected) plus Vladar and Pelltier?

They have a desperate GM on the hot seat who wants to save his job.

That makes them the perfect trade partners.

So the Flames sell their future to double their overpaid/underperformed forwards?

I think Laine is a shadow of who he was or could be since his father passed away.

Well that’s rather presumptuous.
