Plus as I get older I don't want to cheer for losses.

I likely have 30 Flames seasons left in my life ... the last 5 while wetting my pants ... don't see a point in just hoping for losses in any one night, let along 3/4 of a season.

He was sat in the third despite being the top xGF% player in the game in Seattle.

Now he's out, but almost a point per game?

Guessing he's dinged up.

Yeah don't get that one at all.

Don't think he was bad that game at all and that line has been great.

Not sure what the coaching staff saw that made them think he was bad on Monday.

EDIT: There was a play where he did seem to get jostled by a hit early in the third. So could have been that.

I think it's a good call to play Gilbert. That should improve the 3rd pairing defensively. I really liked DeSimone in the first few games, but the last 3 games have been a rollercoaster for that pairing.

As for Zary sitting, I don't mind the call. He had a bit less energy in the last couple of games. He has been losing more puck battles, and making less plays. I think the sheer quantity of games and the grind of the NHL is catching up to him a little. Hopefully he's back in the lineup next game.

Makes no sense to sit Zary. As has been pointed out, one of the best xGF% on the Flames this past game and Dube is one of the worst. So I hope he just needs an extra couple days off because Dube is going to drag down that line. He should be the one being healthy scratch. Don't understand our struggles to put together a competent 4th line.

EDIT:

Francis says Zary is banged up. Makes sense.

a night in the pressbox can be really helpful for a rookie

Maybe it's maintenance.

It's good we win until new year. And I hope we send Pospisil and DeSimone down for a short time and call Klapka or Peterson.

Yeah I'm hoping that's all it is. Well... no, not "hoping." Like, I'm not hoping he's hurt... but I guess hoping he's not actually a healthy scratch.

Edit: If only I had waited 30 more seconds before posting...

its actually tough to adjust to playing every other night/grind of the NHL. might not be a bad idea to schedule maintenance days/games etc. Vets take maintenance days but obvs they cant miss games for the same reasons. But its probably a good idea to give a rookie some extra recovery time by missing a game every 10 games or so.

Flames Nation posted that if both of these guys play tonight and Friday they will require waivers to be sent down to the AHL. I don't think we'll see that happen.
