Beyond the Boxscore: After fighting back for the win Calgary sees themselves just outside playoff race

It’s a Team Game – The Flames have found some semblance of a structure in their own zone, collapsing into a box and giving up the outside. It’s a good way to limit high danger chances but makes for a pretty stale breakout. It’s working for the Flames though as they’ve finally found some chemistry on all their lines making good passes to get through the middle of the ice. They just sometimes lack the speed to avoid a dump-in. I’m impressed by this teams ability to have fought back so much already – they are hitting a stride with their play.

Seravalli: The Calgary Flames are open to offers ‘on a whole bunch of different things’

“I’ll tell you what, the Calgary Flames are ready. They’re open to ideas. They’re open to offers, on a whole bunch of different things that they have in their arsenal to try and make changes. It’s not that the interest level hasn’t been there, but there’s been such a lack of significant, real talk that they’re sitting here going ‘Okay, I understand that it’s mid-to-late November now but if you want to do something, you got to actually make it happen.’ It takes two to tango and it’s not for hemming and hawing on the Flames part that they’re sitting around saying ‘Well you know, might want to see what we have here, we could potentially be a playoff team.’ That’s not their thought process. It’s like, alright, let’s make a deal, and no one’s willing to do that yet.”

Nashville Predators "Owe One To" Visiting Calgary Flames

The Predators played the Flames on November 7 and lost 4-2. The Predators were up 2-0 after the first period at the Saddledome, but four unanswered goals revealed weaknesses and inconsistencies in Nashville's play and the Predators haven't forgotten.

Back to (NHL) .500 with a win tonight. This has been a roller coaster season already and we are just approaching the 1/4 pole.

Win tonight and we just might be in a playoff wildcard spot for American Thanksgiving.

No idea what this team actually is, but it's fun to watch.

Hopefully Huberdeau continues his strong play.

I hope for another entertaining game against an evenly matched opponent. There’s gotta be some good mojo brewing in the Flames dressing room and hopefully complacency doesn’t creep in. I’d like to see Zary bounce back with a strong game and get some points.
Go Flames!

I was not expecting Pospisil to be making the impact he is, I think he’ll be on the big roster for the year due to this stint.

Thanks for the birthday wishes Cheese!

I'm now 23 so I'm expecting a 2-3 game tonight. Feel extremely conflicted about who I want to win but I'm hoping Zary and Pospisil both stay hot.

23-0 sure sounds better!

Happy Bday! Are you like the youngest person on here still?

Me too, the fan in me always wants the Flames to win, but the hockey nerd in me knows that this team needs a long term change in approach that can only be facilitated by a rebuild.

Happy birthday, but, I am sorry: no one should ever hope for losses.

I'm not worried about a rebuild anymore, it's going to happen. The Flames can still trade off a bunch of vets this season and remain competitive while getting much younger. If anything, the success of the young guys this season is hurting the Flames chances of a higher draft pick.

I'm just going to enjoy it all. Winning is fun, losing helps draft position.

The assumed logic to this sentiment always eludes me. There is ZERO guarantee in any rebuild, retool, acquisition or trade. There is also no guarantee that carrying on is NOT the best path.

All roads are crapshoots.

Hoping for a great and entertaining game with a pleasing result!

Flames are on quite the slide, high draft pick is quickly getting out of reach, especially with US Thanksgiving tomorrow!

MASSIVE 0 points guys, you can do it!!
