I feel like if any trade happens now it would be potentially Hanifin or Lindholm to a team that want's to re-sign them, and they would hopefully be paying a premium for that.
That or a team that gets into injury trouble.
You might see a team get desperate right before Christmas too, but otherwise feel like it will be Mid-January before there is any movement.

Blue jackets should fire everyone in management. Trade any UFA's and look to hire a new coach.
Better to get moving now and be ready for the draft.

Thinking the Jackets are quickly approaching the "not worth salvaging" point of the season and that maybe Lindholm isn't going to be what they're after.

We all know it's more likely that the Flames try to salvage theirs. If they win a couple more games in a row, or keep them close at least, this team is going to shift back to "Just make it in, anything can happen!"

I don’t think they are. For all intents and purposes each gm represents their own teams’ interests. Certainly there is collusion behind the scenes but if you don’t make a move and someone does pony up the ask, you lose out on the guy you want. So I don’t think collectively they’re waiting for Conroy to crack. They may not value particular guys as much so they’re fine holding off at the current offer if they have other balls in the air. I just hope behind the scenes Conroy is using the media for his own benefit. Every year there are flavours of the month hyped by the media. If he creates a frenzy where owners start calling down to their GMs, perhaps that’s enough to push a GM over the edge to boost the offer.

I don’t think Steinberg is a mouthpiece for the org like Stauffer is in Edmonton but he seems to be very confident in what he has heard that the org is likely looking to sell the UFA’s and try and stay competitive with their prospects coming in. No blatent tanking but it doesn’t sound like UFA’s will be signed or they will go and buy

I feel the exact opposite. As long as the team is within sniffing distance of the playoffs they will delay on those two as long as possible. If the team is in a playoff spot come Christmas break I would bet they start engaging extension talks again with both.

If they have anyone competent in their building I just don't see how they could come to the conclusion that it's worth doubling down on this group. Best to take their lumps and draft a top 5 talent.

That would be a terrible decision. This team is locked into enough aging players as is and their asks of $7.5M for Hanifin and $9M+ for Lindholm will be absolute death blows to this franchise long term.

Listening to Serivali yesterday I think Jarmo may have pissed him off in the past. He has been saying they should move on from Jarmo for a while and yesterday said the Jackets management group is one of the most arrogant “smartest guys in the room” group in the league. Definitely sounded personal to me

I seem to recall Nashville being on the bubble, selling near the deadline last year and their young guys really giving it, they were winning games, staying competitive til end of season. Hoping the Flames look at that example and be smart about this, grab the best of both worlds. Selling when you are close and when you have valuable UFAs can still be a shrewd decision.

I’m beginning to think the same. At this point, why would they want to trade for Lindholm, or anyone else who can help them now? That window may be closed at this point.
Have to think they are contemplating punting on the season and cleaning house afterwards. Take the keys out of JK’s hands and let a new management team assess what they have.
Have to think Gaudreau isn’t asking himself how he let himself get involved in this mess. Who knows maybe they turn it around next year but one or two more years of this and I bet we start hearing about who Gaudreau wants out. Unless of course he really doesn’t care about winning and is more comfortable being comfortable.

That has been the model of retooling that has been discussed on Flames talk over the past few days. Sell the UFA’s and keep pushing with the talent you have and can call up from the farm
