There was a time where they had signs up telling cyclists to walk. I usually ride over it slowly and accept right now there will be walkers in my way. When the whole bridge is open, I can agree with the frustration. Stay off the bike path and stick to the sidewalk.
Last week they were painting the curbs and today I glanced over at the bridge and saw some workers there. Something is happening finally. I also laugh mightily at the “F’ing bridge” people. You mean the bridge that is now an icon of the city and in most tourism shots? Just be quiet and enjoy your $500MM interchange. ;-)

The signs telling cyclist to walk made no sense, either. In it's current configuration, it's wider than the LRT pedestrian bridge. Plus a walking cyclist takes up even more space.
I too accept a slow roll and have no issue with that because there is construction. I'm perfectly capable of sharing. It's when people are totally oblivious to everyone else around them, and just figure they can do whatever they want while the world waits for them. Even when the bridge is fully open it's not usually a problem for pictures, 95% of people realize there are others using it and have someone paying attention. It's those 5%...

Twitter/X gets a lot of heat, but in terms of fostering idiotic public behaviour, Instagram gives it a run for the money.
Last weekend cycling on the busiest stretch of the reservoir pathway, I came across a group of five people completely blocking to the path. They stood in a circle, heedless of all the cyclists and pedestrians who had to swerve onto the grass to get around them. The reason? They were looking down at a phone placed on the path with on a timer to take a picture of them with the trees changing colour above. And they weren’t doing this for a quick 15 seconds - it was a least a couple minutes they were blocking the path so they could get that perfect ‘gram shot.

There is no need for that level of aggregation when slowing down to a pedestrian pace will get you across the bridge in a minute. Why I ride across the bridge I know it will most likely be crazy and I just take my time and see it as an opportunity to save some energy.

I sure hope you (all people) have this mindset when they come across a cyclist while driving on a suburban road. Just relax and accept the slower speed until it is safe to pass.

I was gonna say, you can tell Cliff is old like the rest of us because kids are doing stupid things for TikTok clout now. If it is on Instagram, it was probably on TikTok first like a week ago.

Yeah, that looks good. I'm surprised they didn't do it that way from the beginning. Glass is just daring someone to vandalize it.

I walked it on Saturday and they were nearly done putting the covers on. I did have to laugh when a group of people clapped and cheered the construction workers for the progress they had done.

And they got it all done so quickly I barely noticed. I blinked for 18 months and it was magically complete!

The bridges are great, it's people who are the problem. As usual.
