It’s basically just one season isn’t it? A little early to say anything about this year.

Their backend does indeed need to be rebuilt on the LHD side of things. Noah has been connected to Florida in the past but I haven’t herd specifically on this specific report. He’s best buddy’s with Tkachuk.
It would have to include a extension.

Agreed would have to be signed. Flames would have to take something back to make the money work.

He’s buried in Florida. I bet with top 6 minutes and some skill you will see a resurgence on that front. He’s 22 and plenty of runway.

I would rather add a guy like that for Hanifin or Lindholm than a 20 something pick in the first round and some spare parts. I suppose the drop off for year 1 to 2 is concerning but the team went from heavy offense with Brunette to Maurice.

you can retain a full 50% on Noah and he can fit into any team. Their cap situation is very open going into summer of 24.

Agree, would rather get 1 good piece than 2 or 3 lesser pieces.
If you can get Lundell for Hanifin, you can then look for a defenseman for Lindholm

Lundell is more likely to have a Lindholm-like surge rather than busting out. If we can’t get a young stud from Buffalo, Dallas, Detroit, etc Lundell is a good idea. Lindholm would be a good fit in Florida too.
Would love to get Bennett back too, he’s not doing as good as he usually is over there.

I'm not entirely convinced more minutes equals more production. Sometimes mid-minutes is where a guy will max out. Lundell plays against other players' lesser players as the shut down guys play against the top guys. That said, he's an intriguing guy as he hasn't broken out yet. If Lindholm is signed than I'd expect Florida to give up more than just a one for one. Lindholm for Lundell + 2nd + 3rd would be my expectation. Again, not convinced this guy can be your 1st liner going forward but likely fills a nice 2nd line role when he does mature. Gotta shoot for higher than that, rather than just getting hyped over his name.

Especially because his contract extension was pretty my negotiated and about to be signed. No secret exactly the cost of that extension.

I haven't watched enough of Florida to know if he has continued his solid defensive play or if I am going off too much on hype, but I do remember coming up as a prospect and in his first year he was a solid defensive player, which would have me less concerned about his offense not exploding last year or so far this season.
I think you would hope he could turn out to be a defensively responsible 2nd line center and if not a useful 3rd liner as his floor. Both roles would be nice additions for a guy that is still only 22.

Florida gets a discount 100%. Don’t kid yourself.
Tax free is a real advantage.

Hard to acquire future first liners.
He would be the heir apparent to Backlund which would be great value

If the goal is really a retool on the fly and pushing to make the playoffs each season, I’d be surprised if they trade Markstrom instead of Vladar. I think Marky and Wolf would be a great tandem for the next 2.5 seasons, Markstrom would be a good mentor.

I think we could charge extra period. I think we can get more for Lindy than Lundell straight up. I think Hanifin is more likely.

Maybe more at work here than what’s ideal.

I don't think Lundell is a great value. He put up similar number to Dube in the NHL. He did that in Florida, and their system generates a lot more offense than CGY.
Every player we traded with FLA recently seemed to do better offensively in FLA: Bennett, Tkachuk, Huberdaeu, Weegar.
Don't get me wrong, he's a good player, like Sharangovich, I just don't think he is going to have much higher production here.

I feel like the only way the Flames trade Markstrom is if they get the return that reflects that of a top end starting veteran goalie. If the Flames retain it should be a massive return in my opinion.
I agree if they want to make the playoffs asap then Vladar is the guy to move but if LA wants Marky and they pay up I see no way he would block that deal.
