Got the news on my AHS email

Dear staff, physicians and volunteers,

On Nov. 8, the Government of Alberta announced changes to Alberta Health Services (AHS) to refocus Alberta’s healthcare system, improve health outcomes for Albertans and empower healthcare workers to deliver quality care across the province. While the structure of our organization will shift, our mandate continues to be delivering high quality health services to all Albertans. The transition will not happen overnight; it will be a process that will unfold over the coming months that requires new ideas, new voices and new leadership.

With this in mind, I would like to announce changes to our executive leadership team. The following individuals are no longer in their role:
• Mauro Chies, President and CEO
• Dr. Francois Belanger, Vice President of Quality and Chief Medical Officer
• Colleen Purdy, Vice President of Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer
• Tina Giesbrecht, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
• Geoffrey Pradella, Chief Strategy Officer
• Dean Olmstead, Chief Program Officer, Capital Management

Sean Chilton, interim Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Clinical Operations and Information Technology is named acting President and CEO. The updated list of executive leadership team members will be found here.

I want to thank the outgoing members of the executive leadership team for their service and commitment to Albertans.

Now it’s time to implement this new vision for healthcare in Alberta. AHS will continue to have a strong role in delivering quality acute care under the new acute care organization. Other services will transition to the three additional organizations being created – primary care, continuing care, and mental health and addiction. You have my commitment we will follow a thoughtful and thorough process as we work through the details of this transition.

I want to thank the thousands of staff who took part in the telephone townhalls with me and the Minister of Health. If you were unable to attend, they are available to listen to online should you wish to do so.

There will be more opportunities in the coming weeks and months to share your input and to help shape the route forward. I want to hear from you on the challenges you face to being successful in your role and how we can make things better for you and for Albertans.

I also want to assure you that our top priority is protecting frontline jobs and empowering local decision making, while continuing to provide the highest quality care to Albertans.

Yours sincerely,

Dr. Lyle Oberg
AHS Executive Board Chair

That article is quite chilling, alternative scientific theories and narratives abound.
This is the UCP saying they will reject facts and reality and substitute their own "alternative facts" in healthcare going forward. They truly are MAGA.

I guess I'll just have to start clicking blindly on links, if you Neanderthals can't start to tell me what the articles in the links are referring to. One of the last bastions of civilization.

Duane Bratt

Danielle Smith campaigned against AHS (and public health measures to address covid) to win UCP leadership in summer of 2022. And she has delivered. Fired AHS board, fired Hinshaw, commissioned Manning Report, restructured AHS, and has fired several of the AHS senior executives.

Looking forward to the next pandemic so real leadership can defeat the culture wars and tyrannical science infringing on freedoms.

Our inboxes super silent this morning.

After the initial #DenialSmith & the You See Pee announcement about dismantling AHS, we had like 3 emails from various levels of AHS -- though I guess at least 1 of those was among those relieved of duty...

Good times as a healthcare professional in 'Berta...sigh

Is anyone putting any credence in the words of a very right wing anti-science report which has been drafted by a right wing anti-science author who was employed by a right wing anti-science leader. This performative report is just saying what Smith blurted out on her radio show for years.

Nobody-Important

If you click the link to the new board you’ll notice they replaced the six executives they fired with eight new ones.

Yes, but when you get cancer though, it's your fault and Smith shouldn't be blamed or have any ethical or legal responsibility.

There will always be the wing nuts who love Danielle and her radical policies and will support her tearing down our health-care system and leaving the CPP. Don’t get excited; they’re a small minority. There will be no APP.
