We definitely need a write-in run off vote for Cup Lock/Knoblauch. We didn't get the chance to cast a vote for that.
Call it a bonus round. If mUd wins, then so be it.

Yeah, have a lightning round at the end. It's superior to all these options, but most people just vote not do a write-in

My only issue with the Cup Lock to Knoblauch one is that we have no idea what kind of HC he's going to be, and if the stars align wrong for us, that title could come back and bite us in the ***
I like the All Consuming one, myself.

This moment is historical. We have to recognize the importance of our duty in subtitling this new E=NG thread. This is the thread where we go up to eleven. We cannot take this task lightly.
The All-Consuming Pursuit of the Next Solution should be the next subtitle to the E=NG group of threads. This simple phrase manages to capture both the timelessness of their No-Goodedness, and the futility to do anything about it. Every team wants to get better, but the fact that the Oilers and their fans believe that they are always just one change away and have unwaveringly believed this through dozens of changes is – and I cannot stress this enough – uniquely and mordantly Edmonton. It is eternal. It was Edmonton yesterday, it is Edmonton today, and it will be Edmonton tomorrow.
Additionally, that ‘Solution’ is singular carries within it a deep irony regarding the Oilers. In fact, they are only one solution away from not being no-good. Goaltending is not the Oilers’ problem. Coaching is not the Oilers’ problem. Drafting, development, defense, Katz, Connor, Lowe… none of these things are the Oilers’ problem. The Oilers’ problem… is Edmonton.
Edmonton is No Good and will continue to be No Good no matter how long they search for a cure. The Oilers will continue to be No Good, until they are no longer Edmonton. The Oilers could move and eventually the stink would fade, but Edmonton will always have to find and will always be searching for the next solution to their No Goodedness. And for that reason, E=NG XI: The All-Consuming Pursuit of the Next Solution should be our next thread title.

Mud, Sweatpants and Tiers is a good subtitle, but it is not the best subtitle. Even though the allusions within are true, they are not as honed, not as precise as they need to be.
‘Mud,’ is obscure and dull. It is forced more than fitting. ‘Sweatpants’ refers to the once common Oiler-fan fashion of choice: black dress shoes; gray, baggy and ill-fitting sweatpants with or without mustard stains; and an Oiler jersey, again with or without mustard stains. However, anyone who has done any field research realizes that such a specimen in today’s wild is a rare sight, the species having devolved into plaid pajama bottoms and sandals, Uggs, or, in some suburban ecosystems, Crocs. ‘Tiers,’ is fantastic, but does it capture the entirety of Edmonton’s No Goodedness? It is a reference to management’s treatment of fans, who, quite frankly, deserve that treatment.
Although ‘Tiers’ fits the theme and spirit of an excellent subtitle, and remains relevant to this day, this line in its entirety would earn a grade of B or B+ at best.

I prefer blood to mud. Not as much of a joke there and takes it too far from the original expression. But I'm nitpicking...

The all consuming pursuit of the next solution works so well. It indicates that there currently isn't a solution, and they will expend all their assets and cap space to get the next solution.
Of course, there's one reality that they don't understand.
The next solution will not save the Oilers.
No one can save the Oilers.
No one.

I want it to be a direct quote from someone within the Oilers organization. It just hits so much harder that way.

The real beauty is it being an actual quote. Even the Oiler's organization knows they're no good.

Agreed, Cup lock is clever but there’s zero meaning/history behind it.

CP voters losing their collective minds. A recent, actual quote directly from a coach that was then fired as part of trying to find the next solution, where no solution and nothing can save the Oilers (a running joke for years) versus a play on words with 2 15-yesr old references (sweatpants and tiers) and some obscure recent refernce that means nothing (Mud). We're better than this CP! (Joke rant, don't @ me)

"The all consuming pursuit of the next solution."
Prophetic words uttered by a since-deposed coach.
Perfect metaphor.

The whole Tier 1/Tier 2 fan thing was over a decade ago. Is that really the best we can do, referencing Kevin Lowe making an idiot of himself at a press conference in 2013? Are we gonna name the next, next E=NG thread after Steve Smith?
Be better, CP voters.

I can't believe people are voting for it.
I didn't even see this "mud" interview. It feels so irrelevant.

How is sweatpants and tiers winning? It’s good but way out of date now.
The All-Consuming Pursuit of the Next Solution is amazing, timeless and could be a fitting title forever.
