Kings have been following the Flames, namely their scouts. We're they at the T.O game ?

I couldn’t see Markstrom saying no to LA

Unless Dubois is coming back I don’t see any realistic scenario where they can get Markstrom. A lot of their players with decent chunks of the cap have NMCs.

Would love to get Byfield, but that sure ain't happening. Turcotte would be interesting.

Arvidsson and Copley? Flames hope Arvidsson gets back to health to move him at deadline

Why not just take the pick that you think Arvidson is worth? Save a step and avoid the risk

Cap wise it could work. Outside of Arvidsson and Copley I'm not sure who they would want to subtract from their roster though.

It would have to be Markstorm retained for arvidsson and copley. Would require a pretty big add. La hasnt picked in the 1st round the last two years. I doubt they're stupid enough to move clarke or byfield. That leaves Turcotte and 24/25 picks.

Markstrom (retained ~1.7m) for copley + arvidsson + turcotte + 2025 2nd

2nd this...

Turcotte has had a rough go of it leading up to this season.

He did have 9 pts in 9 gp in AHL this season after a slow start, but just 1 point in last 3gp fwiw.

The Flames could take Matt Roy and Phoenix Copley and then whatever prospects/picks the Kings three in and the trade would work. They could also take Arvidsson and Copley.

I've been on the Turcotte train for a while now. His ceiling is high.

Some of Duhatschek's thoughts:

Quote:
Just about every team that imagines themselves as a contender is looking for help down the middle, not just the Boston Bruins, which would be the best, most logical fit for Lindholm. Let’s put Hanifin with the Coyotes; Tanev with the Vancouver Canucks and Zadorov with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Quote:
Avs clearly missed Kadri last season ... If Calgary were to pick up Johansen’s two remaining years at $4 million, plus the four remaining years of defenseman Samuel Girard at $5 million, they might be able to make something work.

That sounds like doing the Avs too many favours for a guy that's actually playing quite well now (over a PPG since the HC).

They're the ones that want Kadri more than the Flames are in any kind of rush to be rid of him

I'm a fan of Sammy Girard, and I really believe he could really be something if he could get out from underneath Makar and Toews. I like some of what Johansen brings to the table when he's on, which seems to be less and less the last few years. Still, big C with snarl- like I say, when he's on.

Playing quite well and helping the young players be productive. I understand Kadri likely doesn't want to be on a rebuilding team, but I think he helps developing the talent.

https://bostonhockeynow.com/2023/11/...iring-hanifin/

Quote:
Sweeney’s draft weekend trades at the 2015 NHL Entry Draft were part of a plan to acquire the fifth overall pick from the Carolina Hurricanes and draft Noah Hanifin

His pursuit of Hanifin has never waned

Sweeney and the Bruins could decide to wait until next July, when they will have an expected $28.5 million or more in salary cap space, to try and sign the left-shot Hanifin off the free agent market, but then they’re taking the chance that he gets dealt somewhere else and signs an extension.

Everything is based on right now?

Two weeks ago people were thinking Kadri was untradeable unless multiple picks went with him and pitchforks were out to find a solution to dump him.

Now after a few good games he is an essential savior for the youth movement and we need to keep him.

For how long? Until this hot streak stops and his desire is questioned?

Also have to wonder if the report that he might not want to stay for a rebuild was from his agent and has a high degree of truth and that the Flames may need to look for ways to trade him.
