Default Flames 2 Habs 1

Flames 2 Habs 1

- Markstrom steals one for the Flames, especially as the team's best penalty killer
- Zary with another goal and an assist
- Top line does well with the mix up, Backlund line gets filled in with Huberdeau.

Why does Huberdeau seem to be on the least effective line every night, regardless of who his linemates are?

Every center that has to play with Huberdeau looks worse. Is it because Huberdeau turns the puck over so often while skating the puck up ice? Is it because the centerman is covering for Huberdeau defensively? Is it because Huberdeau can't cycle effectively in the offensive zone?

Thought Zadorov was much much better than in Ottawa and had a great takeaway from Suzuki

Plus a couple of big mistakes; but that's his game.

I thought Kadri looked particularly engaged tonight.

Need more of that.

I'm beginning to think Kadri is a vampire. He needs young blood on his line to feed his powers.

Agree with you on Nick DeSimone, he's been quite steady.

It’s allowed for your goalie to steal a game, God knows it was good timing for Calgary.

I know some here think the Kadri line is our #1, given how noticeable they've been, but Huska isn't playing them that way. Right now they're getting closer to third line minutes despite being penciled in as the #2 line. While being the Flames only source of offense, the Kadri line did give up a lot of chances, too.

As for the CPers calling out Backlund last night, the possession numbers support the eye test, CF% 36.2. Coleman's possession numbers have also dropped like a rock. What could it be? Hmm.

Greer-Sharangovich-Dube despite barely getting any minutes from Huska have been solid.

yep, i am tired of hearing how the Flames don't have the right players to play with Huberdeau, every line he plays on is dragged down to his level. its pretty easy to see why. Thankfully Zary has been able to thrive as he hasnt had that anchor dragging him down
