McDavids interview after practice today is a must watch. He doesn't seem sold on Knob, pissed that Woodcroft is gone. Seems like management thought bringing in his coach would make him happy hahaha.
Wouldn't be surprised to see a team hire Woodcroft right before Mcdavid hits UFA to try and sway him. As much as I hated Woodcrofts arrogance, that would be so poetic

Knob's awkward press conference where he doesn't get to pick his own staff.
McDavid looking somewhat shell shocked and a little pissed off.
Its going to be interesting to see how the Oilers come out tonight.

You hear talk that the assistant coaches are the guys the players go to when they are having problems with the coach, or need someone to confide in. Who's going to feel comfortable talking to Coffey about stuff when he's a direct pipeline to ownership?
And if he's there to help the defence, that's laughable. When he played analysts described him as reinventing the position as a "rover"--more like a 4th forward a lot of the time--which basically meant he had great personal numbers in the goal-filled 80s, but he skated fast enough to get back in the play sometimes.
"Hey Nurse and Bouchard, you should pinch more and abandon your defensive responsibilities to try to score"
Yeah, that will fix everything, lol.

I think the Connor is as good at bull####ting the fans and media as what his bosses are. He actually expects people to believe that Katz, Jackson and Holland didn't run the idea of a coaching change past him before doing it? The guy that the organization is doing everything in their power to convince to stay for his next contract? Not a frigging chance!!!
