If the Flames take a cap dump I hope that is calculated into the trade.

Like to take on Klingberg is easily a 2nd round pick. Zadorov is probably worth a 2nd round pick and a 3rd.

Zadorov for Klingberg should have a 1st and two thirds attached by the leafs (since the Leafs do not have any 2nd round picks)

Normally I would agree but I'm not sure teams are willing to pay much for dumping a player like Klinberg, who's on an expiring deal. Simply because it's also advantageous for the Flames to make any deal work.

Just listening to Friedman on 32 Thoughts this past week. Sounds like Klingberg has been taking an absolute thrashing in the media.

Whether or not that impacts his desire to stay, who knows.

Zads is one of my favourite current flames

However, I dislike the route of going public with a trade request, particularly when it sounds like this all unfolded rather recently. I don't think it's too much to ask a player and his agent to give an organization time to make a move before trying to force their hand publicly. There's plenty of guys around the league on expiring contracts every year and you don't see them all crying about it via their agent. Now it's an unnecessary distraction and takes leverage away from management in a trade. So from a fan's perspective it sucks. I do hope for his sake he finds a longer term fit somewhere for his family.

If Zadorov is a number 5 guy, then don't expect a ransom for him. We saw last year at the deadline that the 5-7 guys went for 2nds and 3rds. A few teams might want him, but that doesn't mean they'll overpay for him.

If he didn't have a big hit and a goal in that Toronto game, I doubt the trade request would have been made public. He had a big game in the biggest NHL media market, so his agent thought it was a good time to tell everyone that he is available. It was a dick move for sure to spring this up now and totally selfish. It shows a lack of respect to management, his team, and the fans.

Zadorov was one of my favourites as well, but he can get lost now.
