It would show him to keep his mouth closed by mouthing off on social media.
It's IMO is super unprofessional of his agent to do so. Asking for a trade is fine and media finding out in "rumors". Announcing it on x like he did is such a "zoomer throwing a temper tantrum type ####"
I think I believe him his agent went rogue except agents have been doing these "rogue posts" for years now. There is no way these players have no idea what their agents are doing behind the scenes. I know any one that has employees knows full well every thing they are doing . Unless you believe he's paying the guy a large some of money and just letting him run rough roughshod.

So just as a tally. Who’s on the block now?
Zadorov
Lindholm
Vladar
Tanev
Hanifin
I guess anyone can be traded. But I see these players as the obvious candidates due to expiring contracts and the Wolf factor.
Not sure if it’s smart to wait for the trade deadline with all of them? That’s a lot of players to get rid of in a short period of time.

There is also the problem of most contending teams not having the cap space to add these players until the deadline.
Plus the obvious problem of the Flames not giving up yet.

I think Conroy knows his price and will take the first deal that pays it.
It’s silly to think there will be a bidding war for these players. They are a bunch of milquetoast guys, or Tanev and Zad who care but are not that good.

His agent did, not him.
He's got to now sheepishly defend the agent, who gets whipped up that his client is having a decent game in the agent's home base and the hockey media captial of Canada, and recklessly tweet out something like that.
It'll hurt Zadorov's movement timing, maybe. And if he really didn't like it from the agent, cause some friction there. He sais he loves the city etc etc so if it's only a business thing, but the guy you're hiring to handle your business is easily flustered by lack of progress and selfishly and hurriidely sticks his neck out in a way that Zadorov himself has to deal with more than that agent, does, then Zadorov has to consider that.

Instead of Vladar I think we should say goaltending because I believe with the team going towards a rebuild that Markstrom could be the guy that wants to go and play for a contender.

I think the players have to have some sense of what is going on and can't really be surprised at all, plus a few (or more than a few) that feel the same way that he does.
Maybe I am too much into the rebuild mindset already but I can't say it is surprising or wrong for a UFA at his age to want to get out of this situation.

Better start showcasing him with some PP time.

Show him how though? Paying him and trading him. Is that not what he wants?
Make him face the music with his teammates IMO.

You bench players because of their on-ice play. Not because of contract and trade issues.
This is pro sports. Business is business. Players, GMs, agents, owners - everyone is all about the dollar bills. None of these professionals fault anyone else in the league for doing what they need to do to get a bigger payday.

Well Zadorov was terrible yesterday
His planned for Ontario back to back trade request also effected the team and their top prospects first real game
Do we want Lindholm or Hanifin to do it when the Leafs media is in town?
I would send a message with a mediocre player who's value won't change much

I don't know what's going through this guy's head. He still makes a lot of boneheaded mistakes. Good luck with his retirement contract goals.

As soon as a player goes public, their trade value decreases significantly.
Dick move by Zadorov IMO. Like thanks, you couldn’t have asked for the trade and then shut up about it? And no, your agent didn’t go rogue, obviously. So dumb.

Worked for the Nordiques when Lindros went public with his trade demand.

At first I thought that too. But for a player like Zadorov, who's not on everyone's radar, maybe it creates a bit more interest for other teams. He's a pretty affordable guy with some unique skills and size. The prices may start low "hey, he asked for a trade", but maybe a mini-bidding war happens.

Really only the case when the player has term remaining or will be an RFA. Everyone in the league knows the Flames have players that are very likely on the block. The player also acknowledging this doesn't change a thing for their value.

Bang on. I've realized this for a while now that sports are soap operas for men giving them the opportunity to express their thoughts about the games and machinations of management but, even more importantly, their emotions.
Enjoy the show!

He’s a UFA on a team in the bottom of the standings. It’s not a surprise at all. I don’t think it really matters for a UFA that was deadline bait anyways.

Zadorov is kind of an idiot for springing that #### on the team between two pivotal back to backs.
There are several UFAs, but the rest are putting their heads down and not creating unnecessary distractions out of impatience.
