The Coleman goal against Saros the other night was a very similar situation to Nylander's second goal last night. Was it bad goaltending by Saros or a really good shot by Coleman? Most people would say Nylander has the better shot.

.858 on the season

all snipes?

demand better...a guy sent to the AHL that we all laugh at has better stats

One of the most meaningless stats in all of hockey

Take away 2 turnovers, or alternately add 10 muffins from the outside, and presto - you’re fine

Nothing the goalie can control

You think it’s a good strategy to turn the puck over and give up odd man rushes? Because the goalie should save 90 percent of all shots instead of 89? Lol

Quality shots matter and shot placement and defensive posture are not measured. Full stop.

so you think Vladar has been good this season?

you can't let in multiple bad goals and call it a good game because you made a few big saves...big saves are his job. Again, have a higher bar.

yeah allow a goal or two...or three

and win the game

That was a weak goal by Saros to give up as well.

I didn’t see multiple bad goals. A couple of no chance, and a couple of not that bad goals

I saw multiple bad defensive plays that caused the chances

Yes goalies should stop everything they see

You should watch more hockey and see how goals are scored

I didn't love the Jarnkrok goal, and the Nylander one has to be stopped.

But he redeemed himself into a check mark over all in my eyes.
They might get two points if he wasn’t their worse player in the first 30 minutes of the game.

Hockey is a 60 minute game.

Well, I choose to be happy about the fact that Vladar managed to turn his (arguable) shaky first half into a really good second half showing. Toronto pressed, and he made a tonne of high-danger chance and highlight reel saves. That's impressive, period. Toronto is never an easy town to play in with all the distractions, and to add onto it, it was Hall of Fame night too. That throws goalies off. In retrospect, I would argue that Vladar showed a heck of a lot of composure out there, and showed himself a capable goalie.

I don't know if this was discussed in the game thread but it sure looks to me like Brian Burke has aged considerably since the last time I saw him (which was probably a few years ago). Appeared like he's losing some of his mental sharpness. Would be sad to see at such a young age (68), if true.

Huberdeau could have won it in overtime if he would just freaking shoot! Instead he tried to pass to Lindholm and it didn’t work

I’ll say this till I’m blue in the face that it was a good option by Huberdeau. That close to the goalie, no speed, and no angle meant he didn’t have a great shot. That pass opens the net wide for Lindholm.

Didn’t work out, but was a good choice.

Some fans have very unrealistic expectations for the goalies. Vladar, in the aggregate, was great last night, and probably the primary reason they got a point.

Hanifin was gawd-awful.

Zary continues to impress

The goalie was square the shot would have been right into the crest.

The pass gave Lindholm a wide open net. Needs to keep his stick on the ice.
