No foot speed? There was an instance in each of the last three games where he flew back to take away a breakaway opportunity.

He didn't stop returning his calls.
Toffoli got his feelings hurt and jumped the gun and asked for a trade.
They outlined what they plan was and when he found out he wasn't #1 he sounded hurt and asked for a trade right away.
He actually sounded disgruntled and it was a good move to ship him out, instead of having it fester.
Zadorov and his agent look like they are trying to put COnroy into a corner by doing this.

I can only recall one instance and it was less foot speed and more his reach that was able to deflect the puck.
Regardless he is a good skater for that size.

I don't think anyone turned on Zadorov
if you asked a week ago, a month ago, a year ago
90% would prefer a trade over a 5x5+

Someone said he is a top 2 defenceman lets put him on the top pairing, and lets see the reaction in game threads next season when his gaffes are magnified when played 23 minutes a night.
Every mistake I am sure poster will chime OMG how could COnroy sign him to that deal. 6 more years !!! How could the dumb management not see this coming. Or maybe we can have posters call him a bitch like they did Huberdeau.
|
Jamie Oleksiak is an obvious Zadorov comparable and got 5 years @ $4.6M. He's also playing top pairing minutes on a weaker d corps on a team ahead of us in the standings. And I'd rather have Zadorov. So yeah, I think 5x5 is fair.

thing is we have never seen Zadorov play top minutes
Gudbranson looked very good playing on the 3rd pair of a 1st place team too...that contract didn't exactly work out

There are multiple posts in this thread telling Zadorov to #### off. Just because you didn't read them doesn't mean they don't exist.
That is what is being responded to.

Agreed on Bahl and Smith. But they really like Siegenthaler, and he plays well with Hamilton. Hughes can play LD (he’s a leftie) and will almost certainly be moved to the second pairing as he gets his feet under him. So if the Devils do bring in Zadorov, it will likely be to play on the 3rd pairing.
Siegenthaler-Hamilton
Hughes-Marino
Zadorov-Smith/Miller

Zadorov has signed 4 contracts after his ELC.
2 years, 1 year, 1 year, 2 years.
His last 2 year deal was when he was a UFA so maybe teams are cautious handing him a big deal.

well to come out with this in Toronto on a back to back was a calculated move...and pretty scummy IMO
I can understand why people are a bit pissed
No matter what the Flames do its always wrong to some of you guys
Colorado and Chicago didnt see a top4 dman either...neither wanted to give him term or dollars. Why is it always the Flames who have to sign the retirement deal? And when they don't they are the bad guy?

Still blows my mind that Gudbranson got that contract and Zadorov didn’t.

Francis is his PR man. From lobbying for public money to build the new arena, to chastising agents for doing their jobs, to threatening to move the team to Houston, he’s done it all.
Has Francis ever punished an article critical of the Flames? Not a GM or coach, but the actual organization?

How did he jump the gun? He got traded to a better team with a better situation for him short term and likely long term?

If we're sending Z to TOR, I would like to see either Liljergren or Robertson going the other way. I don't mind taking on Klingberg, but I don't see Tre trading a 1st for a player without term.

If his leaving triggers a rebuild then I fully support it. It's just too bad that this forces our hand when Gaudreau and Tkachuk's leaving didn't. We'd be so far better off had we started our rebuild then, before these ridiculous contracts to Kadri and Huberdeau.
This organization will likely regret that for a long time. I was a fan of Tre but he sure left us in a mess.

lol wat? you may have noticed he doesn't have a contract for next season...could be injured tomorrow. Devils aren't giving him term they have some big contracts coming up.

Pretty sure I am on the record as saying trading a 70 point guy for what we got was a bad return. Nonetheless it is the right move for the Flames to trade all these guys. I am hoping he does better with the future trades but this team is not going anywhere anytime soon. The Flames should not be signing any of their older players to contracts, certainly not longterm contracts.
