Cannot agree... The NDP's faults were due to governing for the first time in Alberta. They had good intentions even if they messed up implementation. I can give them a longer rope.

The UCP are exactly as terrible and damaging as a lot of people predicted prior to the election. The calls that they would moderate one elected never came to be.

This is false equivalency and should be called out every time.

I'd also like to point out that the last two years of the NDP government, after a turbulent first two years, was damn good. They really found their groove with this province and as someone who had never voted NDP at that time, I was happy with their performance. They governed with class, respect, empathy, and governed for ALL Albertans. Their focus on the development of the film and tech industries, and their responsible approach to diversification while also being very pro O+G, won me over.

How many times can you let yourself get lied to before you smarten the #### up? If you still support this party, you are a ####ing moron. This isn't up for debate anymore, it's a fact.

It should be about balance, every 40 years of Conservative governing should be offset with 12 of NDP governing.

How many Healthcare professionals left the province when she was Premier? How many ERs across the province started closing randomly due to lack of staff in that same time period? How many healthcare initiatives were scrapped? Did they attempt to privatize any services (Labs, Laundry services, Food services) and if so, did it effect patient care and/ or save any money?

Funny that 4 years of NDP is somehow to blame for not fixing decades of conservative mismanagement.

Not sure how they get those wait times, I went to the south urgent care when it said 1.5h wait and I waited 7.5h, though I guess everyone else maybe saw that 1.5h and rushed over.

And pretty sure I caught something too as my throat has been sore ever since.

Beyond having been told that it’s a usually wildly inaccurate guess, I believe it’s based on the time the last person spent in the waiting room before being taken back. So, basically, 1.5 hours is roughly the wait 1.5 hours ago, not the current wait time, and it gets less accurate the bigger the number is.

I needed some time to dig up my old post to reply to this, but I can't help but feel like you're still pretending that these political decisions don't have consequences and therefore it doesn't matter who gets to be in charge. I personally feel like the people who are disproportionally affected by this stuff don't have the mobility (funds, skills, networks, etc.) to make the changes happen. If they did, there would be bigger shifts because of these decisions. It's hard to uproot your life as you know it and go somewhere else.

https://forum.calgarypuck.com/showpo...postcount=1670

I posted that back after the election. It wasn't just bluster. These decisions have consequences. One person has accepted a job in the maritimes and moves in January. One person looked at jobs on Vancouver island but couldn't afford the move. One person is considering a move to the EU since their skills are transferable and it would be the kind of change they need in their life right now.

And just to show this isn't a one-sided thing from me...I have a family member moving to the Edmonton area next month (thoughts and prayers to them). I even encouraged it! As the Albertan connection on that side of the family, I told them the good and the bad and they chose to come here.

There are people who want to be here, and that's fine, but this family member isn't going to get grilled about their appearance while on the job. They're not going to get lots of micro-aggressions in public spaces. They're in a comfortable position in life and they're able to take advantage of it. To pretend that things are okay because we don't personally get affected by politics in the same way is wrong.

I would say that most of my Alberta friends who qualify as "skilled workers" would move to BC in an instant to get away from the UCP if housing/rent prices aren't what they are here.

I'm not saying BC is a shining beacon on the hill, but it's really hard to ignore a lot of the ugliness and hatred that is part and parcel with conservative politics these days.

It's the only answer "conservatives" have I guess, what we (the public) need is less ownership and more massive government bureaucracy managing the private interests that do own it. conservatives indeed.

Dismantling healthcare was the last straw for our household. My wife has been with AHS for almost 15 years, she let them know yesterday at the end of the year she's gone. I'm now on leave from work, been forced out due to long-term effects of covid. When we get back from Europe in the Spring, the house is going up for sale and bye bye Alberta

You'll probably get some offers on that bridge Fuzz. A lot of suckers still believe in this ####show

Sounds like there will be many coming to the Province to replace.

“Analysis. In Q2 2023, 33,958 people migrated to Alberta from other Canadian provinces and territories, an increase of 5.8% from Q2 2022. Adapted from Statistics Canada, Table 17-10-0045-01 (estimates of interprovincial migrants).Oct 10, 2023
