Taking a while to get to 5000

Leafs are poor defensively but they are loaded up front and the Flames give up a lot of chances.
Hoping for a win but will be satisfied with a great effort from the young players and Vladar (or Wolf if they go that direction).

So Wolf plays tomorrow?
Steals the net and leads the Flames to a cup win, with Huberdeau putting up 24 points all season and 2 points in the playoffs capping it off with the cup clinching ot goal as his first goal of the playoffs.

Eh, I guess I'll enjoy watching hockey game as for me I'm Okay for both win or loss.
I'll expect a bad game from Flames when they always had while traveling Eastern Canada.

Three of those guys were drafted by Treliving. He's not the one who was making the game-day roster decisions.

The rest of this roster is Treliving's. Conroy did shift to a younger coach, who is using younger players - but those younger players were drafted by Treliving.
If you think this is "Conroy's roster", that's fine - but he only acquired 2 of the players on tonight's roster and that's generally what we talk about when we're talking about a GM "making his mark" on the roster.
|
That’s also assuming Conroy had no say in drafting any of those players

Vladar could really make a statement to the hockey world about his value, by stoning the Leafs tonight.
Do it for Vernon, Vladdy!

That's not really how this works, though. When evaluating the work of a GM the tendency is for him to own everything—successes and failures, fairly or unfairly so. Of course, Conroy, among a host of others, had a big hand in shaping this roster, but almost all of that was done under Treliving's rubber-stamp. It's still predominantly the roster that he put together.

Maybe. But Wolf hasn't faced top NHL shooters, and whatever else they are, the Leafs have great shooters, especially Matthews. It's be a tough opener.

Yeah, that is the other side of this. I suspect this is "easing him in," as best as they can.

If we keep this game at five on five then I like our chances.
Toronto can't play defense at all and have given up the 2nd most High Danger looks against in the league at 5 on 5.
If the boys come out skating they should find success.

Exactly. The current Flames successes and failures will have to be owned by …Conroy, regardless of what he inherited. He is the one who chose to move on from Looch, Lewis, Toffoli and inject Tre’s draftees who never saw NHL ice before.

I thought the league learned?
Vernon isn't a part of my belief system. I'd feel coerced.
