Default Surprise: CFL Back In Ottawa Dead... Again...

http://www.sportsnet.ca/football/cfl...515_120545_304

So I have this idea. There's no team in Ottawa right now, cause there was one, but they had to shut down opperations. Then another team was there, but it had to shut down opperations. I'm thinking that this is a prime investment. What do you guys think.

Someone should take anyone who thinks the CFL will work in Ottawa behind the barn... and shoot them!

I'd liek to see a team in Ottawa again. I think there could be fan support there.

But there have been so many teams start up and fail, I don't blame the fans for not trusting any CFL team.

The only way it will work would be for some owner with lots of money, hire good football people and be willing to take a bath on the franchise for 3 or 4 years. If a franchise can run that long, build a succussful team on the field, and have no whispers of fiscal issues or threats to fold the team, then (and only then) will fans be able to trust that they can invest some passion for this team.

As it is now they will never get a solid base because no one can trust the team they are rooting for will be back on the field next year.

Quebec City.

Or London. Or Windsor:

Ottawa hasn't had a winning CFL team (read over .500 or playoff victory) for 30 years.

Try that with any franchise in any sport and see the support for the team.

Get stable local ownership and good management and team and the fans will come back.

I have a solution. Get somebody to buy the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Build them up to be a winning team (OK, stay with me for a sec), then once they are good, move them to Ottawa and change the team to the Rough Riders.

Then let Saskatchewan build a team from scratch, because no matter what happens those folks will support their team.
