To a lesser degree the Flames are more or less doing this in goal with Wolf right now.
#### or get off the pot.

Comparing a goalie to a center, come on now
a hockey team can only start one goalie per game and 18 skaters
Wolf is either a starter or not playing much in which case he is better off in the AHL
like are you guys even serious?
look around the league and name all the 18-20 year old goalies

If the Oilers had cap space they could have a vladar caliber goalie within a week.
Their situation is extremely confined and will require a couple favors to get any one of value into their net.

Did you seriously suggest that I hate a player so much I want us to lose against the effing OIlers?? hahahahahaha
But he hasn't and you are clearly just an apologist for him. Not only did he suck in that playoff series, he historically sucked! lol
Name one good game he has had against the Oilers in the past 3 years even. It's clear he has a case of the yips against the Oiler and god damn is it ugly.

That's my concern. Not that he's not going to be a great goalie. But that some of the fans are going to use this as the determining factor. He might win, sure. But he also might lose 7-3..

2 weeks ago lol
that game should have been 10-2
High danger chances were 19-4 in favour of the Oilers and even the Oilers 4th goal was just an outdoor rink bounce
Markstom was great in that game

Could be as soon as after tomorrow morning's skate if Markstrom is 100% by then.

I agree with you his counting numbers are flat year over year, but the team is giving up more by basically 20%, making that hard to do.

I'm a Markstrom detractor, but this year my feel is he has been fine. He's not winning or losing games on his own.
Moneypuvck has him right at mid-pack in goals saved above expected/60 for goalies who have played a min of 7 games (16 out of 29). Natural Stat trick has him closer to the bottom quarter at 25 out of 32 in their GSAA/60, but that feels a little harsh.
Either way, my complaints about the Flames this year are not centred on goaltending.

Great. did we win? he wasn't great either. 3 of those goals were average. So at best he was good.
But what else would we expect from the biggest Flame apologist of all time! shish boom bah. flame are great! flames are great. rah rah rah.

I have been a very harsh critic of the goaltending the last year or so but you have no argument so personal attack
"did we win"
what a ####ing dumb argument
HD chances were 19-4
If the Flames buried ALL of their HD chances it would have been a tie lol
if you can't admit Markstom had a good game in the heritage classic maybe check your bias
like your nonsense about the Pacific division being the worst in hockey you always spew

I actually don't think him playing in the AHL is doing anything for his game at this point other then getting reps in. He was the top goalie 2 years in a row, and Is pretty near the top at the moment.
I personally think he would be far better off riding the bench in the NHL and practicing with NHL shooters every day then being the starter in the A.
Logistically it could work the same way NHL-AHL, he could ride the bench between NHL starts. Then he could play in the AHL when both teams are in Calgary and he needs to stay sharp and get a few reps in, they could send him down.

The overstating part is framing it as 20%... he's basically stopping 1 additional dangerous shot per game. That's not nothing but it's also not the difference between what he was last year and solid. I mean he has the 5th worst GSAA in the league so far... he had the 4th worst showing in the league last year by the same measure. So yeah... he's been a bit less bad but that doesn't make him solid.

Its like the Oiler argument...at some point it's not all on the goalies
I mean the Flames allowed a 2 on 0 last game

It's unbelievable anyone who has watched the past 100 games can even defend Markstrom.... it's mind boggling.
and last year was even more hilarious. You have Timbit posting "yeah all you markstrom haters can suck it" early in the 3rd period and boom we end up losing the game by 2. It happened like 2 or times! lol

It's about time. In my opinion they should have moved a goalie before the season started. But, Wolf has now fully proven he's done with the AHL and however they decide to divy up NHL games, Wolf has to be in the NHL full time now.
Excited for Wolf, happy that they finally called him up.
