I find Rick's voice in season one pretty difficult to deal with. The constant burping, drool, and vomiting are too much. I have a pretty weak stomach for that kind of thing though.
I think it’s the worst in the pilot. I didn’t think I’d keep watching if it stayed like that.

Of the 3 episodes out so far, I didn't find 1 and 3 to have anything super memorable, other than completely forgetting about the new voice actors which is good. But Ep 2 is an instant classic, Jerricky was terrifyingly awesome

I've actually found I've been having a hard time getting into them. That last episode just felt like they were trying too hard...it just doesnt feel the same.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

I thought it was pretty gross and weak. In fact I've felt that so far this season has been pretty lacklustre sprinkled with a few good moments. Season 5 vibes.
To each their own, but looking back at some of the great work they did in the first 4 seasons I wouldn't put that episode in the top 30.

Rick and Morty has always used 'Gross Out' humour, and thats fine, it seems low-brow and not really my bag for the most part, but it seems they've really been leaning hard on it this season an straying more from what I found funny.

Sure, but eating the insides of suicide victims feels like a level above.

I felt it was a really smart and interesting look at industrialised farming, “ethical” meat consumption and alternatives, as well as the compassion of our assisted suicide policy in Canada.

It feels like they are just trotting out a lot of old jokes too. Something definitely feels off.
I think that's the way it was going with or without Harmon though. The previous season had some real duds too. I'm finding all the episodes with the president especially pretty repetitive.

I'm not sure we're meant to look that deep, but I am glad you enjoyed it and got something out of it.

I was looking forward to this episode because a big fan of the writer, Heather Anne Campbell, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The best episodes make us examine our humanity, and our relationships with food and death being intertwined is brilliant.

It was very intentional, you should read the interview with the showrunners and writers.
I guess this is where R&M and other shows like South Park are losing me a bit. These shows have evolved over the years from clever parody to heavy satire (although South Park basically started as juvenile and vulgar for the sake of it). The episodes I have the most problem with are the ones where I have to dig too deep to be entertained, where it's all about "getting what they're getting at" instead of being pure entertainment. Give me Pickle Rick, Vat of Acid, or Rickshank Redemption any day over some deep take wrapped in a Captain Planet parody.
Now, I was probably just repulsed by the entire concept of eating spaghetti straight from a corpse and couldn't get past that from the start. I get that's the point, but it wasn't funny or entertaining to me. Of course I'll never resent someone for filling their joy quota over something I personally disliked, but it's just not my bag.
